The Income Tax Department issued a notice to actor Prithviraj Sukumaran over payment issues related to three co-produced films. With his latest directorial, Empuraan, being involved in controversies, all eyes are on this issue as Prithviraj Sukumaran gets an income tax notice.

The IT notice asks for details about his income declarations of his recent films. and the actor needs to respond to the notice by April 29. Prithviraj appeared in three movies as the lead—Gold, Jana Gana Mana, and Kaduva. However, he didn’t get paid as an actor for all these movies, and he allegedly collected fees as a co-producer.

Prithviraj’s earnings as a co-producer are estimated at ₹40 crore. Officials want full information on this. As said above, Prithviraj Sukumaran gets an income tax notice, and everyone is linking this to the controversy of Empuraan. Recently, ED raids were conducted on the producers of Empuraan.

This Notice has nothing to do with Empuraan: IT Officials

But, according to income tax officials, this is simply a normal step in their verification process, and there is nothing related to L2: Empuraan movie or its controversy over some scenes.

A fresh notice has now been issued to the actor/director as part of the financial year-end review in March. An email went out to Prithviraj, asking him to get back either personally or through someone else.
