Movie promotion styles are evolving with changing times. To get maximum footfalls, filmmakers are now directly tying up with multiplex chains and are aggressively promoting their films on these platforms. After SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Maniratnam’s upcoming big-budget period action film Ponniyin Selvan is taking the same route.
This pan-India project from Mani Ratnam has now tied up with PVR Cinemas for promotions. PVR will be the official multiplex partner for this project. Incidentally, RRR also tied up with PVR back in March and the multiplexes were rebranded as RRR PVR all across the country.
RRR’s superb content and this tie-up with PVR helped the SS Rajamouli film to collect up a massive Rs 93.7 crore at PVR alone. Now it needs to be seen whether Ponniyin Selvan can repeat the success.
Ponniyin Selvan is the most ambitious project of Mani Ratnam’s career and will star Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, Shobhita Dhulipalla, and Jayam Ravi among others. Ponniyin Selvan 1 is a pan-India project and will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi on 30th September.
AR Rahman has composed the music for this prestigious project while cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman. The film is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions.
