Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan was released in theatres on 30th September and is showing no signs of stopping. It has already crossed the 200 crore mark globally and is inching comfortably towards the 250 crore mark.
But another excellent record is that the film has crossed 100 crores in Tamil Nadu in just 5 days. This has never been done before in the history of Tamil cinema and the film is pacing fastly towards a 130+ crores weekend.
Ponniyin Selvan is creating history with its weekday collections. It is a never before seen achievement from Mani Ratnam and the team. The weekdays hold is in the range of the opening day star heroes collections. On Tuesday alone, the film collected close to 20 crores in Tamil Nadu which stunned the trade analysts.
At this rate, Ponniyin Selvan is marching towards an all-time blockbuster status. Even though the film has been getting a mixed response from the audiences, the magic of Mani Ratnam is working big time. Even the overseas collections are growing every day.
