Mani Ratnam’s dream project, Ponniyin Selvan’s second part, was released in multiple languages on April 28th, and the film was opened to positive talk from the audiences and critics as well. However, the film had underperformed at the box office and collected less than the first part of the film. Probably, it is the first time that a sequel has collected only 70% of the collections of the first part.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 started streaming on OTT from May 26th on Amazon Prime video, but it was on rent basis for an amount of RS 399, but now it is streaming for free for the regular subscribers. Viewers no need to pay an extra amount to watch this epic period action drama on the OTT platform. The film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, but there is still no mention of the Hindi version.
The story of Ponniyin Selvan 2 explores the past love story between Aditha Karikalan and Nandini, how they were separated and what made Nandini to seek vengeance on Chola Kingdom. The narrative also follows Arunmozhi Varman’s rise as the renowned emperor Rajaraja Chola and what incidents follow up until his rise.
The film comprises a huge star cast that includes Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (in double role), Trisha, and Jayam Ravi. Ashwin Kakumanu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, and Mohan Raman are also part of the cast.
The movie is Produced by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions. The music of the film is scored by AR Rahman, and the cinematography has been handled by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Thotta Tharani, dialogues by Jeyamohan, costumes by Eka Lakhani, make-up by Vikram Gaikwad, and choreography by Brinda.
