The trend of re-releasing old blockbuster Telugu movies has become a very regular thing in the recent times. It started with the special shows of Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri, followed by Pawan Kalyan’s Jalsa, Tammudu, and Kushi. Okkadu, Billa, Varsham also made into the list and the latest entries NTR’s Simhadri and Balakrishna’s Narasimha Naidu. Now it is officially confirmed that Pawan Kalyan’s classic blockbuster Tholi Prema will also join the list of re-releases.
Initially, ‘Tholi Prema’ was planned to be released in theaters on 14th February 2023 as a Valentine’s Day special with a remastered 4K print. However, the re-release was cancelled at the last moment due to some unknown reasons. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie, Tholi Prema will be released on June 30th. The PR team of Pawan Kalyan took to social media account to announce the re-release.
Tholi Prema, directed by Karunakaran and released in 1998, was a trend-setting love story. Pawan Kalyan and Keerthy Reddy acted as the lead pair in the film. Deva’s music was a massive success, Back then, songs like “Ee Manase Se Se,” “Emi Sodhara,” and “Gagananiki Udayam” were favorites for the audience.
Pawan Kalyan’s sincere performance as Balu, the natural aspect of a middle-class boy and his interaction with family and friends were well captured by the director. Apart from exceptional songs and marvelous love track, Tholi Prema further has a heart touching sister sentiment too, which is still liked by the audience.
Tholi Prema also won a national award for Best Regional Film in Telugu, as well as six Nandi Awards. Pawan Kalyan has a cult fan base, and they proved it with his iconic film Kushi’s re-release, which saw a thundering response. Now let’s wait and watch how PSPK fans will celebrate Tholi Prema.
