Prabhas Birthday Re-Releases Flop
Mahesh Babu’s Murari re-release made a huge impact, setting records as the biggest grosser among re-released films. Following that, Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh came out strong, breaking Murari’s opening day record for re-releases. Even senior hero films like Indra 4K performed remarkably well, establishing new benchmarks for older films being brought back to theaters.
However, when it comes to Prabhas’ birthday celebrations, the re-releases of Eeshwar, Salaar, and Mr. Perfect did not set records as expected. While these films attracted hardcore fans, the general audience seemed less interested, leading to average box office collections and moderate theater occupancy. A few iconic screens saw housefuls, but overall, the response was underwhelming.
Right now, when it comes to re-releases, it appears that Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan’s films are dominating, with both actors consistently drawing in massive crowds. The competition in the re-release space is largely between these two stars, while others seem to struggle to recreate the same kind of magic, particularly with broader audiences.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu 1st Single for Diwali
Hari Hara Veera Mallu starring Pawan Kalyan is one of the most awaited films of Tollywood. The film’s shoot has been put on hold due to the political commitments of the lead Actor, Pawan Kalyan. The film’s shoot has also been resumed recently. Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s 1st single is also speculated to release during the Diwali festival.
Official announcement regarding the 1st single release is yet to come from the makers. Fans and Audience have placed high expectations on the film as it is a periodical drama. 1st single must also raise the expectations high. Keeravani acts as the Music Director of the film and this is his first collaboration with Pawan Kalyan as well.
The film is also in the final stage of shoot and has already been announced as 28th March 2025 release. Hari Hara Veera Mallu will also come in two parts. So, the first part must achieve big success to raise the expectations on the second part.
Kanguva’s first review by Madhan Karky sets the bar high
Kanguva starring Suriya is one of the most awaited films of Kollywood. The film is also slated for release on 14th November worldwide. Now, Kanguva’s first review is out from the lyricist and dialogue writer, Madhan Karky. He has shared his views through the review on his official X/Twitter handle. This long review of Kanguva has really set the bar high ahead of the release.
Madhan Karky has seen the full version of Kanguva. This happened during the dubbing sessions as he stated. He said that the grandeur of visuals, intricate detailing of the art and depth of the story combined with the majestic music made it one of the finest pieces of art created. He has also appreciated the performance of Suriya in the film
Karky also thanked director of the film, Siva for the scintillating experience he had crafted and also the production house Studio Green for weaving the thread of dreams into a reality. Suriya and the team hope of scoring a Pan India blockbuster with Kanguva.
All eyes on Pushpa 2 Andhra Pradesh numbers
Pushpa starring Allu Arjun became a blockbuster in other languages except the Telugu market. It ended up as an average grosser here. In Nizam, it did good but in Andhra Pradesh it failed to achieve a breakeven mark in some areas. Now, with Pushpa 2 in for release, All eyes are on the film’s box office numbers in Andhra Pradesh.
Today, makers of Pushpa 2 have conducted a formal press meet to discuss many things about the film. Media reporters raised the same question regarding the underperformance of Pushpa in AP. The makers then came up with the answer of the existing ticket rates when Pushpa had released. As now, the ticket prices are very high, they are hopeful of repeating a blockbuster success here as well.
Pushpa 2’s business in AP is very high. The 6 territories business of Coastal AP were done in the range of 85 crores ratio. Ceded business is at 30 crores. So Pushpa 2 needs a total of 115 crores just to achieve the breakeven mark. Till now, there are only two films that collected more than 100 crore share in AP i.e., Baahubali 2 and RRR. So, the task of achieving breakeven in AP should be primary for Pushpa 2. We can expect more business in other areas if this happens.
Pushpa 2 Non theatricals are 420 crores
Pushpa 2 starring Allu Arjun currently enjoys great hype and expectations. The film’s prequel Pushpa became a Pan India blockbuster gaining cult following nationwide. This craze has now made Pushpa 2 Non theatrical business touch a whopping 420 crore mark. Makers of Pushpa 2 have confirmed this officially today.
This is an All Time Record for any film in the recent times. As said, producers and distributors of Pushpa 2 have conducted a press meet today. They have also announced that Pushpa 2 has been decided to release a day before fixing it on December 5th. They are also very confident that Pushpa 2 would be creating a new benchmark which is very much possible.
With this, the total business of Pushpa 2 would go around 1000 crores. Theatrical business is around 600 crores worldwide and 420 crores as Non theatrical business. This is as said, the current All Time Record for any film in Indian Cinema.
High Court bails out Jani Master
Tollywood Dance Choreographer, Jani Master got stuck in a controversy recently. The Choreographer was allegedly involved in a sexual harrassment on a female dance colleague. He was also jailed immediately and was under remand. Now, Jani Master has been granted bail officially by the High Court.
Jani Master was also suspended from the Tollywood Dance Choreographers’ body. He was also a member of Actor Pawan Kalyan’s political party, Janasena. Following the incident, he was formally suspended from the acitivities of the party. Jani also received National Award for Best Choreographer recently. This Award was also taken back the National Award Jury due to his imprisonment.
We need to see how Jani Master would respond about the incident. It should also be seen if he is allowed to continue as a dance choreographer in Tollywood.
Ghajini 2: Allu Aravind’s mega budget film
Ghajini starring Suriya was a big blockbuster in Tamil and Telugu languages. The film’s popularity expanded to Bollywood with Actor Aamir Khan remaking it. Ghajini in Hindi became even more biggest blockbuster gaining a cult popularity there as well. Now, a sequel for both of the language’s version is under planning. Ghajini 2 is also learnt to be produced by Allu Aravind as a mega budgeted film.
Suriya during promotions for his upcoming film, Kanguva revealed that discussions for Ghajini 2 are on. This felt that the plan would also include Aamir Khan as Suriya can’t play the lead role for the Hindi version. Allu Aravind who distributed the film in Telugu market will act as the producer. This should also involve both the films being shot simultaneously.
Allu Aravind has also planned doing a big budget Pan India film since long time. He planned it with Ramayana but it didn’t materialise. But he will definitely try bringing forward Ghajini 2. A.R. Murugudoss script for the film will decide when the film will hit the sets.
Pushpa 2 heat: Chhaava forced to postpone
Pushpa 2 starring Allu Arjun is one of the most awaited films of Tollywood. The film was actually slated for release on December 6th worldwide. But to cash in on a long weekend, the makers have changed their minds and the film is set to prepone a day before to arrive on 5th December. Bollywood film, Chhaava which was planned on 6th December is now forced to postpone to avoid clash with Pushpa 2.
Chhaava is also a big budgeted film based on the life of Chatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj. The film has also acquired craze due to this. But the film’s decision to arrive beside Pushpa 2 will be a danger. So, according to some sources, the film is likely to get postponed to another date. This allows Pushpa 2 to have more screens for the release. Earlier, Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan released in a clash with Salaar and it failed. The same happened to OMG 2 opposite Gadar 2.
Pushpa 2 also looks to take over the box office. So, makers of Chhaava may not be willing to go for a clash. Chhaava is now expected to postpone to the end of December or during the Republic weekend. There is no official confirmation yet on this. Let’s wait and see.
