Suriya 44 titled Retro; Teaser released

Kollywood Actor Suriya and Director Karthik Subbaraj’s collaborative Suriya44 has been titled Retro. The teaser was also released showcasing the theme of the film alongwith few glimpses where Suriya was seen as a ruthless Thug. Pooja Hegde also plays the female lead role in the film.

This is the first collaboration between Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj. Fans and Audience are very much excited about the film and the teaser looks as lived up to these expectations. Retro is a period gangster drama filled with usual style of Karthik Subbaraj making. Produced by Suriya under his home banner 2D Entertainments, the film is also aiming the release in the month of March next year.

Retro will have to perform big for Suriya who experienced a big debacle in the form of Kanguva this year. The film also became one of the biggest disasters of Kollywood surprisingly. Now, all eyes are on Retro which also serves as a hope for Karthik Subbaraj who is out of form in the recent years.

Allu Aravind presents 2 crores to Revathi’s family

Tollywood Producer and father of Allu Arjun, Allu Aravind has presented a cheque of 2 crores to Revathi, the lady who died recently in the stampede that took place for Pushpa 2 Premiere show. The Producer stated that the team of Pushpa 2 and Allu Arjun have already contributed an amount of 1 and half crore alongwith the Director Sukumar’s share of 50 Lakhs.

Allu Aravind said that the amount will be given on behalf of a trust that was formed by Chairman of Film Development Corporation, Dil Raju. He visited the hospital where the son of Revathi was being treated after getting severely wounded in the incident. Allu Aravind said that he hopes of the recovery of the boy and assured of help from the Film Industry to his father.

This assumed attention with Allu Arjun attending the Police interrrogation yesterday. There are also rumours of the Police appealing for the cancellation of bail issued to the Actor by the High Court.

Story:

John D Silva (Varun Dhawan) lives in Kerala with his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna). He enjoys a joyful life until he faces a gang that kidnaps women. This situation brings to light his previous identity as DCP Satya Verma IPS, his relationship with Meera (Keerthy Suresh), and his enmity with the dangerous criminal Babbar Sher (Jackie Shroff). The story then unfolds around the reasons for his disappearance and his actions to ensure his daughter’s safety. 

Analysis:

Baby John is an official remake of Theri (2014). The story is not new, but it has all the elements of a mass or commercial entertainer. Atlee, who directed the original and worked as a writer/producer for this film, made a few changes to the screenplay. The narrative follows the same flashback technique with a strong opening sequence. The first half is a little slower, while the second is action-packed. The emotional impact and mass tinge are effective, but there is also a sense of predictability throughout. The cameo of Salman Khan was neither great nor bad, and it will enthrall his fans. 

Performances:

Varun Dhawan transforms into an action mode, and he looks very convincing in action sequences and emotional parts. Keerthy Suresh was good as the female lead and provided the required impact in crucial scenes. Wamiqa Gabbi’s character has a nice twist, but she has limited scope to perform. Sheebha Chaddha and Rajpay Yadav make their presence felt, while Jackie Shroff is effective as the main villain. The little girl, Zara Zyanna is cute.

Baby John Movie Review and Verdict:

Baby John is a regular mass entertainer. Varun Dhawan’s performance and the mass appeal of the film worked well for the film, while slight boredom along with the predictability and remake factor worked against it. The audiences who watch it as a standalone film can enjoy it better.

Allu Arjun, who attended the Police investigation today regarding the tragic death of a lady at Sandhya Theatre, has reportedly known to have turned emotional watching the video clips of the unfolding of the tragedy. The Actor was moved by the unfortunate incident.

Allu Arjun was grilled by the Police for nearly 3 hours and 30 minutes which yielded nothing new. The Actor co-operated with the Police through the entire process and also assured them of coming again when needed. It is also learnt that the Actor didn’t answer to few questions going into a silent mode.

It is also rumoured that the Police were contemplating to appeal for the cancellation of the bail issued by the High Court to Allu Arjun recently. If that happens, he has to face more pressure from the police.

2024 Positive Year for Tollywood Big Stars. From tier 1, Heroes like Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan films did not release in theatres this year. Other 4 stars’ films were released, and numbers of those films are beyond the reviews and word of mouth they received.

Guntur Kaaram’s WOM opened with similar to Agnyatavaasi but it collected more than 110 Cr Share, and it also provided profits for Andhra buyers and emerged as above average at the box office. 

Kalki 2898 AD received above average WOM, but it performed sensationally in Telugu as well as worldwide. In Telugu it collected close to 300 Cr share and worldwide it crossed 1000 Cr mark and emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. 

Devara opened with mixed to above average talk but worked well at the box office by collecting more than 200 Cr share in Telugu and more than 400 Cr gross worldwide in all languages and emerged as a blockbuster in Telugu. Overall, it is a hit venture

Pushpa 2 received a great stock In North India, but it received a great talk but in South it received mixed response. But still, it does good numbers in Telugu with close to 300 Cr share till now. While, in Hindi emerged as all-time biggest blockbuster. In Karnataka and Tamil also, the film did well but it disappointed only in Malayalam. Overall, it became a blockbuster film with closed to 1500 Cr gross till now and still running strong at the theaters.

2024 Positive Year for Tollywood Big Stars, all the four films gave a positive sign for next biggies that OTT and mixed reviews will not stop audiences. Now a film with a superb content can show more potential of tier1 heroes in the coming year.

Vidaamuyarchi 1st Single release details

Vidaamuyarchi starring Ajith is scheduled for release on 10th January worldwide next year. Till now, only the Glimpse of the film was released and the response was also okayish. Now, the team is preparing the 1st Single and its release details are also out.

The 1st Single is arriving on 27th December on YouTube. There are huge expectations on the song with the composition by Anirudh Ravichander who is ruling the roost. But interestingly the BGM composed by the Music Director for the glimpse didn’t register proper response.

So it is very doubtful to see if the Music Director has lived up to the expectations. The 1st Single will also be the big promoter for the film which has been lacking the hype. The team is also busy with post production works of the film with the final portion shot recently.

Marco, the latest film of Malayalam Actor Unni Mukundam opened to a stunning response in Kerala. The film has managed to collect around 38 crores worldwide in 4 days and promised of a good long run. Marco is expected to touch 100 crores gross worldwide for sure with this run. It is also holding strong in the week days.

With a successful performance in Malayalam, the film is being planned for a release in Telugu States for this New Year. The film also has high chances of a positive response here with no new releases. There is only Pushpa 2 which hasn’t been performing well after its 2nd week run. The other releases also failed to strike a mark. So, this holiday period will be a good advantage for the film.

Marco is reported to be a Mass violent film with full on action sequences. The film is already being hailed for these action episodes and some scenes on the social media platforms now. So, let’s see how the film fares after its release here.

Janasena leader stands for Allu Arjun

Janasena Party leader, Bolisetty Satyanarayana has come in support of Allu Arjun amid the investigation of Police in a case registered against the him. The Actor had also been jailed for the same reason who later came out on bail. Satyanarayana alleged that the Government has been harrassing the Actor with negative intentions. This video has now gone viral on social media.

Bolisetty Satyanarayana also questioned the Government what action had been taken against the concerned authorities in road accidents. He also felt that Allu Arjun should’ve been dealt with respect unlike how he is being treated by the Government currently comparing it to a torture. He also opined that CM Revanth Reddy would bear the consequences for this mistreatment of Allu Arjun.

Ironically, the Chief of Janasena Party and also the maternal Uncle of Allu Arjun, Pawan Kalyan hasn’t responded yet about the incident. He has been silent ever since Allu Arjun was taken into the custody by the Police and later imprisonment as well.

Mark Antony Sequel In Works

Adhik Ravichandran’s Mark Antony emerged as the career biggest hit for Vishal. The film was well appreciated for its quirky screenplay and Vishal and SJ Surya’s performances. The film was a huge blockbuster in Tamil and did a decent business in Telugu as well.

The film was the first 100-crore grosser for Vishal and now the latest buzz is that the makers are gearing up for a sequel of the film.

The film was based on a time travel concept with Ritu Varma and Abhinaya playing the female leads. Sunil and Selvaraghavan appeared in important roles. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Mark Antony’s music was scored by GV Prakash Kumar.

At the moment, Adhik Ravichandran is working with Ajith for Good Bad Ugly. Post Good Bad Ugly release, Mark Antony Sequel will likely to go on sets. Good Bad Ugly was initially planned for Pongal release but due to Ajith’s other film Vidaamuyarchi, it is now pushed to summer

The episode of a stampede that claimed the life a lady recently at the Sandhya theatre during the premiere show of Pushpa 2 has caught the nation’s attention with the arrest of Allu Arjun. The Actor who was named as A11 in the case has to deal with it even after coming out of the jail. Latest to addition in the case is Mythri Movie Makers, the production company of Pushpa 2 which is named as A18 shockingly.

This is utter shocking. No one expected the Police to drag the Production house for the stampede as well. The Bodyguard of Allu Arjun has already been arrested in the case with Allu Arjun arriving at the Police station again for the interrogation. Now, it seems, Mythri Movie Makers and its producers should also have to deal with the case.

There are also rumours about Police seeking the cancellation of bail ordered to Allu Arjun to take him into custody again. It needs to be seen if the Police are seriously contemplating to go ahead with such speed.
