Marco hits 100 crore mark

Marco starring Unni Mukundan became a blockbuster in Mollywood. The film has also attracted other language audiences, especially the Hindi Audience. Marco collected around 99 crores till yesterday and it will be hitting the 100 crore mark today. The film also became the 8th Mollywood film to cross the 100 crore gross worldwide.

Until recent years, Mollywood struggled to go past the 100 crores mark but since last year it has been continuously delivering exceptional 100 crore films. Hindi Belt also added as a strong zone for the film apart from the Telugu version which performed decently. It also became the highest Mollywood grosser in the Hindi belt with a double-digit Nett collection.

In Kerala, the film has collected around 41 crores. In the Overseas market, it brought in around 32 crores and the Rest collections are from Hindi, Tamil, and the Rest of India territories.

Story:

Daaku Maharaaj’s story is about Seetharam, a civil engineer, and the unforeseen circumstances that made him transform into two different personalities, Daaku Maharaaj and Nanaji.

Performances:

Balakrishna is very good in all three dimensions of his character. There is one particular emotional scene in the second half, which shows his acting caliber as a senior actor. Shraddha Srinath gets the second-best character in the film, and she does complete justice to it. Pragya Jaiswal, Sachin Khedhekar, and Makrand Deshpande were fine while Urvashi Rautela was just present for a song and two scenes.

Analysis:

The movie starts strong by establishing many powerful links right from the beginning. The entire first half is thoroughly engaging and stylish, consistently filled with high moments. Balakrishna is terrific in the film, and the elevation scenes work exceptionally well. In the second half, the much-anticipated Daaku Maharaaj portions fall slightly short, with regular and predictable drama leading up to the climax. However, Bobby does his best to include high-energy scenes regularly, keeping the audience engaged

Game Changer released amid huge expectations fell short with below-par word of mouth. The film collected around 86 crores gross on the opening day. On Day 2, it saw a very big drop in Telugu States. In Tamil, the film saw a drop, and the same is the case with the Overseas market. But in Hindi, the film’s hold on Day 2 was good and on par with the opening day.

Overall on Day 2, the film is expected to collect only around 35 crores gross worldwide which takes the total gross around 120 crores for 2 days. The Breakeven gross is at 450 crores which is a huge target. The Advance bookings for tomorrow are even less than the bookings of Day 2. This is a dangerous sign for the film and the team.

It needs to be seen how the film performs from here on with the competition from Daaku Maharaaj and Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The Festival advantage must help the film but if the other films receive a positive talk then it’s game over for Game Changer.

Game Changer ticket hikes and special shows cancelled

Game Changer was recently granted permission for special shows and ticket hikes by the Telangana Government. This was earlier doubtful with the Government’s decision to discontinue the permission. The film has also opened with hiked ticket prices but these are now to be cancelled from January 16th following the Court’s order.

The High Court of Telangana has recently passed interim directions to review the permission granted by the Government for the film. So, the Government after this observation has withdrawn the accordance. It is also made clear that the Government wouldn’t allow any early morning shows henceforth.

The film will have the regular pricing methods from January 16th i.e., ₹295 and ₹177 for Multiplexes and Single Screen theatres. This will definitely be a big blow for the film in the state.
