This weekend is crucial for Daaku Maharaaj. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest action drama Daaku Maharaaj opened very well at the box office and performed decently on weekdays. However, the film had a drop in collections after the Sankranthi festival days. That is why this weekend is crucial for Daaku Maharaaj.

Initially, the trade expected Daaku to join the 100 Cr club, and later the trend reduced to 90 Cr now it has been reduced to 80 Cr. But, the thing is, the film still needs a few good days at the theater to do so.

To achieve even 80 Cr, Daaku Maharaaj needs to collect 4-5 Cr share this weekend, and if the film manages to post a good weekend, then it will emerge as a hit at the box office. In case it fails to take a jump this weekend, the movie will end up as above average at the box office.

Story:

Set in the village of Adluru, Telangana, the film revolves around a young girl named Gandhi (Sukriti Veni) as she uncovers Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings through her grandfather, Rama Chandrayya (Ananda Chakrapani). Satish (Rag Mayur), acting on behalf of the minister, prompts the villagers to sell their land for the establishment of a chemical factory; however, Rama Chandrayya opposes this proposal due to his attachment to a cherished tree that flourishes on his property. He takes a promise from Gandhi to protect the tree at all costs. Gandhi takes on the responsibility, but she faces resistance from her father, the villagers, and Satish. The rest of the film is about Gandhi’s efforts to preserve the tree.

Performances:

Sukriti Veni Bandreddi, daughter of director Sukumar, did a great job in her debut as an actor. She was able to portray the innocence required for her character without appearing overboard. Ananda Chakrapani was natural in the character of Rama Chandrayya, while Bhanu Prakash Kothala, Nehal Anand Kumkuma, Lavanya Reddy, Rag Mayur, and others were perfect.

Analysis:

The presentation of the film is good despite the story’s simplicity. The story focuses on issues like protecting villages from corporate intrusion, preserving trees, and enabling a female child to defend her rights, grow up, and defend others. All the scenes between Grandfather and Gandhi are heartwarming, and the way Gandhi tries to get things right in the second half is also shown effectively. As said above, the film’s story is straightforward, and one can guess the proceedings easily. The emotional impact of the film is enhanced by the climax, though it is over-dramatic. Director Padmavathi Malladi made a genuine effort with the film to deliver a solid message about Mahatma Gandhi’s Principles, and though there are a few flaws in the film, it delivers the right impact in the end.

Yesterday, the HD version of the recently released Game Changer leaked online before the official release, sparking great criticism of the team. The film’s HD scenes also appeared on various social media platforms surprisingly later. Now, it’s the turn of another Sankranthi release, Daaku Maharaaj whose HD version has leaked now.

Usually, whenever any film’s pirated version leaks online, it comes out only in less resolution and low audio quality. But Game Changer HD version pirated version was leaked in an HD format to everyone’s surprise. The same happened to Daaku Maharaaj with the same type of HD version leaking out. What’s even more boggling is this happened when the film are still running in the theatres.

Vettaiyan beats The GOAT on Television

Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth released last year and became a decent grosser at the box office. The film didn’t reach the expectation level set by the fans and audience. But, surprisingly, Vettaiyan has surpassed Vijay’s The GOAT that became a big blockbuster on Television.

In Tamil, Vettaiyan delivered a TRP of 11.65 on Sun TV premiere whereas The GOAT only delivered 7.60 TRP on ZEE Tamil premiere. This is indeed a surprise for all considering the upper hand that The GOAT had at the box office last year. The film, which opened on an average word of mouth gradually rocked the box office.

The GOAT grossed nearly 500 crores worldwide with a decent word of mouth stunning all. Vettaiyan could only gross nearly 250 crores worldwide. But it couldn’t repeat the magic on TV like Vettaiyan. The non-viewership of Vettaiyan theatrically would’ve helped it get the TRP. This will at least be a good development for the team.

Akshay Kumar, who has been facing continuous failures in recent years, has come up with an Air Force Drama, Sky Force. The film also stars debutant Veer Pahariya in another lead role. Let’s see how the film has been shaped.

Story:

The film, set in the context of the Indian Air Force, follows a young and energetic Squadron Leader TK Vijaya, also known as Tabby (Veer Pahariya), who defies orders and makes impulsive choices to show his bravery. To protect his team and its leader, Wing Commander KO Ahuja (Akshay Kumar, whom he considers as a father figure, Tabby rushes to take part in a dangerous mission and never returns. What actions did Ahuja draw to learn about Vijaya, referred to as Tabby, unfold the rest of the film.

Performances:

Akshay Kumar did his best in the character of KO Ahuja and there is nothing to complain or praise either. Veer Pahariya shows nice confidence in his debut and delivers a convincing performance. Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur and others were okay.

Analysis:

The concept of Sky Force is fine, but t lacks any new elements. One can not deny the contribution of countless soldiers who disregarded thoughts of their families and entertained the idea of going above and beyond their duties to take part in a war, but, to explore the journey of a long-missing soldier in a film needs a solid taking, which Sky Force shows only in some parts. The initial part of the film feels relatively dull, as the relation between both the leads does not get the right impact which it should have, while the latter half proves to be more impactful because of a few pleasant moments and an emotional climax.
