Dangal Actress slams Casting Couch in Tollywood

Bollywood Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh made shocking comments on the casting couch culture in Tollywood. She said that she came across many such experiences where Producers and a few celebrities approached her for sexual pleasure. These comments have gone viral now on social media platforms.

Fatima was talking in a podcast interview and made the above-mentioned comments. These comments indeed felt shocking. She said that one Producer asked her for a profile and indirectly hinted at pleasing him. The Actress also stated that there were also few people who were good and stayed away from these acts.

Story:

The film starts with Dev (Shahid Kapoor), a no-nonsense cop riding a motorbike through a poorly lit tunnel. He reaches out to his superior, Farhan (Pravesh Rana), and shares the news that he has unraveled the murder case of his childhood friend and fellow police officer, Rohan D Silva (Pavail Gulati). Just as he is about to tell the name of the murderer, he loses control of his bike as it skids,  and meets with an accident.

Performances:

Shahid Kapoor suited the role of Dev Ambre and he tried to maintain the intensity from start to end. He was also flawless in a few emotional scenes. Pavail Gulati and Pravessh Rana did justice to their roles, while Pooja Hegde,  Girish Kulkarni, Kubbra Sait, and others were just okay.

Analysis:

Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, Deva is a remake of Mumbai Police (2013) which was made by himself. The director tweaked the final twist from his original film and changed the narrative a bit compared to the Malayalam version. The first half of the film introduces all the characters and a main turn, which forms the crux of the movie, is revealed. The second half gets deeper into the investigation and ends with a shocking twist. However, the screenplay does not rise to the occasion and it fails to show the solid impact that these kinds of thrillers should maintain. One cannot connect with the pain of the hero or his friend, and when the final twist appears, the shock value is missed completely. The film was able to make the proceedings interesting only in a few places, and mostly it goes at a sluggish pace.

Marco Streaming Date Officially Out

Unnimukundan’s Marco emerged as a massive blockbuster not just in the Malayalam markets but also in Hindi and Telugu. The film collected more than 100 gross worldwide and was appreciated for its intense action scenes and Unnimukundan’s stylish performance.

The film’s huge success has created great expectations for the film’s sequel and even remakes into other languages. While the film was having a great run at the box- office, reports emerged that the film would soon have an OTT release. Unnimukundan was quick to point out that the film will not have an OTT release any time soon.

Now that Marco has neared the end of its theatrical run, the makers have officially announced the OTT release. Marco will stream on Sony Liv from 14th February. It will be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco also stars  Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu S Thilakan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul and Yukti Thareja in key roles. The film’s blockbuster success has paved path to a sequel.

Kamal Haasan currently has an impressive lineup of films, including ‘Thug Life,’ ‘Indian 3,’ ‘Kalki 2,’ and the Anbarivu project. While ‘Thug Life’ is set to hit theaters in June, ‘Indian 3,’ directed by Shankar, is also gearing up for release this year. Although the shooting for ‘Indian 3’ is mostly complete, one final song sequence remains to be filmed.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam eyes double milestone this weekend

Sankranthiki Vasthunam became a sensational blockbuster this Sankranthi. The film continued the same momentum even after the festival with a good run. It created many milestones, also becoming Venkatesh’s 1st 100 crore share and 200 crore grosser. It also became Director Anil Ravipudi’s career highest grosser. Now, it is eyeing a double milestone this weekend.

The film is aiming for two more benchmarks as said. One is reaching the 150 crore share mark and the other is to cross 250 crores gross worldwide. It has already collected around 145 crores share till now and around 235 crores gross worldwide. This 3rd weekend, with a visible strong performance, it can easily get past these numbers becoming audiences’ no 1 choice.

Apart from this, Sankranthiki Vasthunam also became the biggest share-providing film in Senior Actors category, reaching a 100 crore theatrical profit. It also entered the All time Top 10 Telugu share films. No Senior Actor film surpassed such benchmarks and Venkatesh registered all these records in his name surprisingly. This weekend will also be the last big one for the film as the next weekend will have Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel releasing.

Thandel also is riding high with expectations and surely draw a large number of audiences. It is most unlikely for Sankranthiki Vasthunam to stay strong in the coming weekend.

Just one challenge stands for Thandel

Thandel, the latest film of Naga Chaitanya is scheduled for release worldwide on 7th February. The film’s promotional activities have also begun with the team conducting an event yesterday in Chennai for the Tamil version. Thandel is a big budgeted flick based on a real life story of fishermen who got trapped in Pakistan after crossing into their borders unknowingly.

The film was initially planned to showcase these incidents and also did big research on their lives after their rescue operations happened. The team met those people and adapted the film. There was also a plan for, dealing with these Pakistan episodes and the first glimpse was showcased these. But this plan was later dropped due to the risk of big budget for this genre.

The team then prepared a full length love story between the lead pair Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. Director Chandoo Mondeti too explained the same in an interview recently. He told that the film was not a patriotic one and deals with love story and emotional bond of the lead pair minimising these Pakistan episodes. He said that these episodes will only be about 20 minutes in the film and the rest is entirely about the love story.

This is surely a good decision to create an initial good buzz. And it is also learned that this 20-minute episode will not be a continuous one but crisscrosses throughout the film. The screenplay is believed to host these Pakistan episodes in the beginning and then move forward with the flashback episodes involving the love story.


The love element of the lead pair will surely work as the audiences have already connected with the songs released till now. Still, the only challenge that stands is how these Pakistan episodes are dealt with in the film. They shouldn’t get overboarded disturbing the momentum of the film. This was also visible from the Trailer which gave raise to the doubts. Chandoo Mondeti too came forward immediately to clear off these speculations.

If the team is successful in pulling off these Pakistan episodes well then the film will definitely become a blockbuster and the team also looks confident about the result. The team participated in the Chennai event yesterday as said with Actor Karthi, Venkat Prabhu, Karthik Subbaraj as Chief Guests. Today, an event is planned in Mumbai with Aamir Khan as the Chief Guest. Later, a big event is being planned in Hyderabad with Allu Arjun as the Chief Guest.

After a long delay of over 12 years, Kollywood actor Vishal’s Tamil comedy entertainer, Madha Gada Raja was released during the Pongal 2025. The film has been released with the same title in Telugu on January 31st, i.e. today.

Story:

In the village of Araku, Madha Gaja Raja, referred to as MGR and portrayed by Vishal, lives with his father, a police inspector. He operates a Satellite TV Cable business and falls in love with Madhavi (Anjali) while helping her dad, who is involved in crimes because of his funny behavior. But MGR’s father disapproves of their marriage. MGR receives invite his schoolmaster (Sarath Saxena), for himself and three friends to join celebrate his daughter’s wedding. He learns that a corrupt industrialist/Political kingmaker named Kakarla Vishwanath (Sonu Sood) troubled his friends. The rest of the story is how MGR tackles Viswanath, and brings him down.

Performances:

Vishal was fine in the titular character. Anjali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Anjali were okay and added the glamorous dose. Santhanam is the show stealer of the film. He provides many laughs with his one-liners. Late Manobala also entertains well. Sonu Sood, Manivannan and others were alright.

Analysis:

Madha Gaja Raja is a routine commercial entertainer. It is widely known that the film has been released after 12 years, so it is natural that the story and proceedings look outdated. Even a routine storyline can be made as an engaging film if it is narrated interestingly. Director Sundar C did you try to evoke the emotions and put them just for namesake. The love track of Vishal, Anjali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is completely devoted to engage the mass audiences. The only thing that works for the film is Santhanam’s comedy. He is present for most of the parts and brings laughs some or the other way. The pre-climax episode of Manobala also entertains properly.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is the only senior hero who is still compacting with this generation stars. With the comeback film itself, he pulled off a Non-Baahubali Industry Hit and 100 Cr share. Thereafter, with Syeraa and Waltair Veerayya, he scored 100 Cr shares again. However, Chiranjeevi’s big budget films are not getting the required range.

If we look at at Chiranjeevi’s mass commercial films like Khaidi No 150, Waltair Veerayya, they were very comfortable for producers while making the film, and the business and collections were too huge.

But if we see Chiranjeevi’s big budget films like Syeraa, the film faced many obstacles while making. The cost too went more than the expected, which resulted in the producers going for a deficit release. That is why, even though the movie emerged as Chiru’s biggest grosser, because of the over budget, the film ended up as a cost failure.

Vishwambhara: A big risk for Megastar

Now, coming to his upcoming film, Viswmbhara, it is also being made as a massive film. It is expected to be a visual grandeur, but when the film’s teaser was released, the director and the entire unit faced heavy criticism about VFX, which resulted in the team spending more money on it.

But if the movie’s cost is considered, the business is not happening at that level. For the theatrical and non-theatrical rights, the producers are quoting at very high prices because of the record budget, but they are not receiving the offers in the expected range. Vishwambhara needs another teaser with good visuals which can turn the tables. However, even after that, the makers are in a danger of facing a big risk. The movie must do very big numbers in all languages to become a successful venture.

Vishwambhara’s team is planning to release on 9th May. A teaser is supposed to be released soon, and it is expected to turn the table for the film regarding the business and craze.

So, if we observe the entire scenario, Chiranjeevi’s commercial movies are working very big, but his big budget films are facing various hurdles. After Vishwambhara, Chiranjeevi signs his next films with Anil Ravipudi and Srikanth Odela. These films will be very comfortable for him, as mostly they will be made as commercial and mass entertainers.

During this Sankranthi, all 3 movies opted for a ticket hike of over 100 rupees. So most of the families cannot afford multiple films, which further affected Daaku Maharaaj a bit. In the end, Daaku Maharaaj at made decent to good revenue at the box office, but it could have been much bigger if it was released on some other date.
