Telugu Buyers Compensated for Kanguva’s Losses

0

Suriya’s Kanguva was released amidst extremely high expectations in Tamil as well as Telugu . The Kollywood star has a very good following in Telugu states and since the movie was a period action film made on heavy budget, it was bought for huge amount by the Telugu distributors. Unfortunately, the film’s content was not that strong and it ended up as high loss venture for everyone involved.

This week’s release Dragon which stars Love Today hero Pradeep Ranganathan’s is being seen as compensation for Telugu buyers as same set of distributors involved here. If Dragon works well, then it will cover Kanguva’s losses for Telugu buyers. The makers of Dragon have done good promotions in Telug and a pre-release event with the team also took place on Sunday.

The film also stars Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar. Factors such as Pradeep’s earlier hit film Love Today and presence of Anupama Parameswaran are expected to draw crowds and if the film manages to get off to a good talk, then the distributors are in for a good time.

Sukumar Changing Gears for Ram Charan

0

Sukumar has been known to reinvent himself from time to time. He started his career with love stories and youthful films and with 1 Nenokkadine, he changed his path towards class films. He went for class and action based films with Nannaku Premtaho and marked a huge change with Rangasthalam-a mass movie with a rural backrop.

With Pushpa, he went more massy with Pushparaj being the massiest character of all his lead stars. His next film will star Ram Charan and as per reports, it will be in complete contrast to Rangasthalam and Pushpa franchise. This film will focus on big length action sequences and will be targeting global audiences.

This will be a good change for both actor and director. Ram Charan is currently working on a film with rural backdrop with Buchi Babu so Sukumar’s movie will be a fresh change. Buchi Babu – Ram Charan’s film is likely to complete shoot by this year end and immediately Sukumar film will go on sets.

Thandel 10 days Box office collections

0

Thandel became a blockbuster hit after its release giving a major relief to Naga Chaitanya who needed this. The film also had a tremendous first-weekend performance at the box office. But, somehow, it failed to take a jump, as expected by the team, for the 2nd weekend. By the 2nd weekend, it was expected to go near the 100 crore gross.

But it has maintained a decent number on the 2nd weekend showing no big jump. Overall, for the 10 days, the film has collected around 82 crores gross worldwide and also earned a 45 crores share including the GST in Telugu States. The Theatrical rights are valued at 40 crores and the film has already become a box office success.

But now, reaching the 100 crore milestone looks tough with the film having no advantage of a public holiday in the first 10 days of its release. The film should maintain a decent collection this week till the Shiva Rathri festival which provides the jump to cross the 100 crores milestone. So, let’s wait and see.

Chhaava’s costliest mistake

0

Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal has become a sensational blockbuster after receiving unanimous positive reviews. The film which released last weekend collected very huge numbers and also held super strong today. The makers are surprised to see the reception coming in from the Audience.

The performance of the film indicates that the team has missed using a strategy. Chhaava was an adaptation of Chatrapthi Sambhaji Maharaj, the elder son of Chatrapathi Shivaji. So, the film has all the abilities to attract a major section of the audience. At a time when even small-budgeted films are doing wonders at the box office, Chhaava really missed this advantage.

The team should have released the film in all the South Indian languages. It could have delivered much more numbers if this had happened. The Hindi version numbers itself have posted huge numbers in major cities in Telugu States. So, if there was a Telugu version the reach and revenue could have been big.

It needs to be seen if the makers now decide to dub it in other languages and plan a release. Chhaava has already posted highest numbers on Sunday beating Pushpa 2 which held this record until now.

Chhaava has managed to break Pushpa 2 record in Maharashtra as well. Pushpa 2 holds the biggest-ever record on Sunday in Maharashtra until now, which was broken by the Chhaava on its First Sunday surprisingly. The film is also expected to create All Time records in Maharashtra.

Chhaava is also slowly picking up in other areas gaining a good momentum. The film is a huge blockbuster already and will become a trendsetter in the coming days as it deals with historical backdrop which resulted in huge successes in recent times.

Thandel: Bad Release Date?

0

Thandel, the latest love drama starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi was released on 7th February. The film achieved good success at the box office, but it didn’t reach out to the expected range. Trade circles believe that Thandel had a bad release date.

Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel did not have any advantage on the 1st weekend and Shivaratri festival is also falling on the 3rd week which is very far. Thandel had a bad release date.

Better Release Date Could have helped Thandel’s Box Office Collections

So, instead of 7th February, Thandel should have gone for summer release or at least it could have arrived on February 13th. In that case, on the 2nd day and the 1st weekend, with the Valentine’s day advantage, the film could have 4 days extended weekend. Moreover, the 2nd week Shivaratri holiday would have helped the film.

After an extraordinary 1st weekend, the movie did not fell completely, nor it continued the same momentum. It just maintained a decent hold, even for the second weekend. If the film was released on 13th February, certainly it could have easily joined the 100 Cr club by the 2nd weekend itself.

Thandel achieved good success at the box office for sure, but it could have done more numbers with a better release date. Now the film has collected close to 85 Cr until now and to reach the 100 Cr figure, it needs a good run for another week.
