OTT viewers are in for a wide range of entertainment this weekend. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Thandel, Sharwanand’s Manamey, Vishwak Sen’s latest disaster Laila, and a few other interesting films, including the latest Malayalam thriller Rekha Chitram, are streaming on OTT from tonight.

Thandel: Expectations of a Massive Response on OTT

Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel will debut on March 7 on the digital field, as confirmed by Netflix recently through a striking poster featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. The film will be available for streaming in multiple languages like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam to reach a wide audience.

Rekha Chithram showcases a talented cast, including Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, and Mammootty, delivering an engaging Malayalam thriller filled with suspense. SonyLIV will stream the film in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Baapu, directed by Dayakar Reddy and featuring Brahmaji, Aamani, Sudhakar Reddy, Srinivas Avasarala, Dhanya Balakrishna, and Mani Aegurla, will stream on JioHotstar starting March 7, 2025.

Can Vishwak Sen’s Laila avoid Criticism upon OTT Release?

Vishwak Sen faced his career’s biggest disaster with Laila, and the film will be available for streaming on OTT starting tonight. Sharwanand’s Manamey was released in theaters last June, and its OTT release was a long-delayed one. 

Finally, the Youthful—Family Entertainer will be released on Prime Video tonight. Also, Manikandan’s latest superhit movie, Kudumbasthaan, will be available on ZEE5 from tonight.

Dhanush’s NEEK OTT Streaming Details

Kollywood star Dhanush faced a box office failure with his recent directorial outing Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK). The film managed to make some noise through its promotions thanks to the hit song ‘Golden Sparrow’. However, beyond that it failed to make an impact and is now getting ready for its OTT debut.

The film will be arriving on Prime Video on 21st March and it’s expected to receive a big response after OTT release. NEEK was a commercial failure due to its poor release date but if we consider content and direction, the film surely managed to win some hearts. Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon was going super strong at the box-office and made things quite tough for NEEK.

The film starring a fresh cast full of new comers received decent to good reviews. It was made on a limited budget made Rs 12 crores and would have made much more impact had it not released in competition with Dragon.

Nayanthara, who was in the news for requesting her fans not to call her a Lady Superstar, is all set to appear before the viewers with her upcoming web release, Test. Starring R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, along with Meera Jasmine, Test’s OTT streaming date is out, and it will stream on Netflix from April 4. 

The platform’s social media handles shared the news. The film is made as a sports drama with an emotional core. It deals with themes like, “Not every test focuses on winning; some evaluate your courage and dreams. Every step is crucial in a game with personal stakes. Just one choice can make you a hero or a villain.”

Producer Sashikanth, the owner of Y Not Studios, is stepping into the director’s role for the first time with his new movie called Test. He has previously supported popular films like Mandela, Vikram Vedha, and Kaaviya Thalaivan. Nayanthara’s Test’s OTT streaming date is out, and the viewers are eager to watch it, as it will stream on Netflix from April 4.

Sashikanth co-produced the film with Chakravarthy Ramachandra. Popular singer Shaktisree Gopalan will debut as a music director. The test releases in Tamil as well as Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

SVSC Re-Release Rocks the Box Office

If we observe the release date of SVSC on March 7th, i.e., tomorrow, it is a bad date with no holiday, no occasion, and exams for students. This re-release has become a box office success with advance bookings itself. In Hyderabad City itself, the advance bookings gross is more than 60L, while the total Telugu states advance bookings are around 1.2 Cr. The total worldwide advance bookings have crossed the 1.5 Cr mark, which is more than expected for the film. SVSC Re-Release is rocking at the box office.

With these bookings, the re-release is already a success, and the walk-ins and weekend performance will decide how big the success is. The positive sign for the film is that even for Saturday, the advance bookings are promising. Ne Zha 2 joins $2 Billion club

Ne Zha 2, the Chinese film which released during the Chinese New Year, is creating wonders at the box office. By the end of its 5th weekend, the film crossed $2 Billion mark, stunning everyone. It has also crossed Spiderman No Way Home to become the 2nd highest grosser post-COVID just behind Avatar 2.

The film is also the 7th highest grosser of all time and will aim to finish in the Top 3 or at least in Top 5 at the box office. Ne Zha 2 has also created a record by becoming the first animated film to enter the $2 Billion club and also the first Non-English film to join this club.

Collecting 100 crore gross is definitely possible with positive word of mouth. As said above, director Lokesh Kangaraj carries a huge brand, but box office-wise, he is yet to score a sensational blockbuster like other big directors from Tamil.

For example, the Vikram director should score massive hits like Director Shankar and other directors. His film with Vijay, Leo, opened big, but because of mixed talk, it just managed to achieve the breakeven. Even with his best hit, Vikram also ended up with less than 40 Cr gross in Telugu states.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film is yet to score 50 crores gross in Telugu. So, at this time, Coolie needs a 100 Cr gross to reach the break-even point, and it is expected to give a big break box office-wise for the director in Telugu.
