Robinhood Movie, directed by Venky Kudumula is set to hit big screens on March 28th. The film had a grand pre-release event today in Hyderabad. Film’s cast Nithin, Sreeleela and various other actors graced the event. David Warner attended the event as a special guest. He also played a small role in the film.
Ram Charan’s birthday is just a few days away, and there was a lot of buzz about his upcoming film, RC 16’s title teaser, planned to be released on that day as a gift for fans. Similarly, Allu Arjun’s upcoming film’s details were also said to be out on his birthday, but the latest news suggests that there will be no updates for Ram Charan and Allu Arjun’s birthdays.
As said above, the title teaser of RC 16 was locked, and fans planned for a re-release of the Naayak movie for a birthday celebration. On AA’s birthday, Atlee’s film update was expected to be out, and Aarya 2 was planned for re-release.
Now, both the updates are said to be not coming due to Allu Aravind’s mother, Kanaka Ratnam [95 years old], being in a serious condition and on a ventilator. Reportedly, she is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
So, though the fans will be disappointed with no updates on their favorite stars’ birthdays, there will be no updates for Ram Charan and Allu Arjun’s birthdays because of family reasons.
Empuraan is setting new benchmarks for Mollywood films in advance bookings. The rage started with overseas advances. The overseas advances opened a few days before, and it created many benchmarks. It became the first film to cross 1 million, 1.5 million, 2 million, and 2.5 million; it now heads for another benchmark, 3 million. The biggest opener for Mollywood is 1.6M in overseas, and Empuraan broke this with a 1 million margin already with presales alone.
In India, the advances were opened 2 days back, and it creates benchmarks in advances for not only Malayalam films but an Indian film too. In the first 24 hours of advance bookings, it sold more than 625K tickets on Book My Show at peak hour; it sold 96K tickets. Both are benchmarks for Indian cinemas pre-bookings on Book My Show. This is the 1st time a Mollywood film has opened with a double-digit start in India; Empuraan achieved this in pre-sales alone with 4 days of release. The total worldwide advances for opening day, including fan shows, go past 35 Cr. The previous highest was 20 Cr. Empuraan is set for a 55 Cr opening as per this trend. A huge difference between the previous biggest and Empuraan openings.
Even though the Lucifer Telugu remake film Godfather did not work well at the box office and the remake has many changes over the original version, which also contributed to the box office disappointment. But the Empuraan teaser and trailer have created good anticipation in Telugu audiences too.. Dilraju is releasing the film in Telugu. The film is hitting screens on this Thursday, 27th March. The movie censored with 3 hours runtime.
Robinhood starring Nithiin is the most budgeted film in the Actor’s career, with more than 70 crores. The film is also releasing in the theatres this Friday worldwide. Empuraan’s opening is getting bigger day by day. Initially, everyone expected it would break the opening day record for Malayalam cinema [20 Cr] with a good margin, but Mohanlal’s Empuraan advance bookings soared past the ₹35 Cr mark.
Now this big film is on the way to breaking the opening record of Mollywood with more than double margin and close to triple margin. No one expected such a huge number, and Empuraan is going in that way.
The advances for the film now cross the 35 Cr mark worldwide for opening day. From Kerala, it crosses the 10 Cr mark, and it crosses 2.5M overseas, Karnataka 2 Cr. The rest of India will be more than 1 Cr.
With all these, the film crosses 35 Cr in presales worldwide, and with these bookings, definitely the film opening will be more than 50 Cr. The trade is in shock as Mohanlal’s Empuraan advance bookings soar past the ₹35 Cr mark.
The record-breaking advances for this film create a bit of anticipation in Telugu audiences too. Dil Raju is releasing the film in Telugu. The team is also doing good promotions in Telugu.
If the film opens with positive WOM, then we can expect good numbers for L2: Empuraan’s Telugu version as well.
NTR’s Devara achieved blockbuster success at the box office. Now, the film is getting released in Japan, and NTR lands in Japan for the promotions. Everybody is excited to see whether Devara will join the list of top opening grossers in Japan or not.
