The latest reports from the inner circles of TFI suggest that a big film, which was supposed to be released this month, is said to be postponed due to financial hurdles. Like all other movies, the movie makers are said to have borrowed money from financiers to make the film.

Jio Hotstar delivers, Netflix disappoints

Four films of three respective Film Industries released recently on the OTT platforms Jio Hotstar and Netflix. Thudarum and Tourist Family streamed on Jio Hotstar, whereas Hit 3 and Retro arrived on Netflix.

Among these, Thudarum became a big blockbuster, grossing more than 230 crores worldwide. Tourist Family starring Sasi Kumar and Simran received unanimous positive reviews, becoming a super Hit. Both these films streamed on Jio Hotstar. They also received stunning views on the platform, with much appreciation coming from Netizens.

Retro starring Suriya and Hit 3 starring Nani arrived on Netflix. The OTT reception of these films is a disappointment compared to the other films. The viewers’ preference is mostly for Thudarum and Tourist Family to Hit 3 and Retro. Jio Hotstar surely grabbed the best quality films at lower prices and has won the battle over Netflix, interestingly.

Thug Life Advance Bookings Below Expectations

Thug Life, the action drama, has come under a massive collaboration of Kamal Haasan and Maniratnam. The film was expected to have the career-best opening in Kamal’s career. However, Thug Life Advance Bookings have been below expectations.

The film’s songs and the trailer also worked well. So, everyone expected a phenomenal opening at the box office. But on a surprising note, the film does not have big advance bookings.

In Tamil Nadu, the film’s bookings are trending at the 15 Cr range opening, which is definitely a disappointing one for the film, as Vikram opened with more than 20 Cr. Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life advance bookings have been below expectations.

The overseas bookings status is decent, with more than 1 million advance bookings, but even there, the film’s impact is not on par with the expectations. The Telugu states’ ticket sales are also below par.

Vikram opens with 60 Cr worldwide gross, and Indian 2 opens with 55 Cr worldwide. Thug Life, at this pace, looks like it will have difficulty starting with Kamal Haasan’s best figures is impossible, and also the Karnataka ban on the movie will affect the numbers.
