Movie Ticket Hikes Turn Political in Telangana

0

The issue of ticket price hikes is now moving into a new phase, as it has become mixed with politics. The latest Sankranti releases from the Telugu film industry, The Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, both applied for permission to increase ticket prices. However, The Raja Saab received the government order (GO) late, while Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu got approval without much trouble.

This difference has triggered a major debate online among fans. It has now drawn the attention of senior politician Harish Rao from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, who questioned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his government over their handling of ticket price hike permissions.

Tollywood Ticket Hikes Issue Turns Political

The controversy around ticket hikes started with Pushpa 2. For that film, both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments approved high ticket prices and paid premiere shows. After that, many films followed the same trend. In Andhra Pradesh, ticket price hikes have not created much discussion. But in Telangana, the issue of ticket price hikes has been mixed with politics and legal problems.

Government officials have repeatedly stated that they will not approve ticket price hikes, but at the same time, such permissions continue to be granted. Even the Cinematography Minister surprised everyone by saying that he is not even looking at ticket permission files.

The opposition has been consistently questioning this contradiction in the Telangana government’s statements and actions. Recently, Harish Rao strongly criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of following double standards when it comes to ticket price hike approvals.

Harish Rao publicly questions Government

  • For one film, you delay permissions till midnight, but for another film, you grant permission two days in advance with royal treatment.
  • Is this personal vengeance against a hero just because he said, ‘The KCR government will return’?
  • Will you send another hero to jail just because he forgot your name?
  • Now, if someone is your favorite, will you give permission for ₹600 ticket rates?

Rating: 3/5
Cast: Varsha Bollamma, Megha Lekha, Suchitra Ananda, Rajeev Kanakala, Ramana Bhargav, Prem Sagar, and others
Created by: Prashanth Kumar Dimmala
Streaming on: ETV Win

Starring Varsha Bollamma in the lead, Constable Kanakam was a well-regarded series on the Telugu OTT platform, ETV Win. Now, the second season has arrived, much to the delight of fans. Let’s see how this new season has been shaped in the following review.

Story:

Constable Kanakam (played by Varsha Bollamma) successfully closes the missing women case in the remote Repalle forest. But she is still in search of her close friend Chandrika, who has mysteriously disappeared. Season 2 focuses on how Kanakam uncovers Chandrika’s hidden past and finally cracks the case.

Performances:

Varsha Bollamma appears more confident in the second season, which adds strength to her character and screen presence. She also performs well in emotional scenes. Megha Lekha delivers an impressive performance as Chandrika.

Suchitra Ananda gets a strong role and does an excellent job. Rajeev Kanakala, along with the rest of the cast, also delivers solid performances.

Analysis:

Director Prashanth Kumar Dimmala presents Season 2 of Constable Kanakam with an engaging narrative supported by an emotional undertone. He adds timely twists and turns, and the investigative setup, along with the use of backstories to unfold the case, keeps the audience interested.

But the season does have a few drawbacks. In an effort to keep the narration sharp, some important revelations are rushed, which reduces their impact at certain moments. A few crucial characters from the first season do not get the expected importance as well.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Gripping Narration
  • Background Score/Camera Work

Negatives:

  • Rushed feel at a few places
  • Some Key Characters Mishandled
  • Somewhat Abrupt Finale Scene

Constable Kanakam Season 2 Review and Verdict:

Prashanth Kumar Dimmala’s Constable Kanakam Season 2 is a well-made crime thriller with natural performances and clever twists. While the handling of some key characters and rushed moments are a bit of a hindrance, the show remains engaging overall.

0

In just a few hours, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu will arrive in theaters, and the film’s opening day advance sales crossed the ₹25 Cr mark worldwide.

Here are the details of MSG Advance Bookings:

  • Overseas: ₹11 Cr (including premieres)
  • All-India premieres: ₹4.6 Cr
  • All-India Day 1: ₹9.5 Cr

Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has moved past the ₹25 Cr mark in advance bookings worldwide.

The number is superb, considering the pre-festival and weekday release. The movie is expected to collect more than 60 Cr opening with positive WOM.

The pre-release event and simple Hook Step Song have added a solid hype to the film, as fans eagerly await the vintage Megastar vibe in the film. Let’s wait and watch how huge the response will be for the film.

The Raja Saab Telugu: 2 Days Box Office Collections

0

2026 started for the Telugu film industry with the release of The Raja Saab on January 9th, and the film, which opened with 100 Cr gross on the first day, is struggling to maintain the flow at the box office. The box office collection details for 2 days of the film are out now.

The Raja Saab Two Days Telugu Version share (AP&TG Incl GST)

  • Nizam : 21.2 Cr
  • Ceeded: 7.8 Cr
  • Uttarandhra: 7.2 Cr
  • Guntur : 4.05 Cr
  • East : 5.9 Cr
  • West: 4.05 Cr
  • Krishna: 3.84 Cr
  • Nellore: 2.36 Cr
  • AP/TG: 56.4 Cr
  • ROI: 5.5 Cr
  • Overseas: 13.5 Cr
  • Worldwide: 74.4 Cr
  • Recovery: 45%

If we observe the 2-day collections of The Raja Saab, the Telugu states’ performance is decent, but the rest of India and overseas numbers saw a big drop. With theatrical rights being valued at 165 Cr, the film needs to hold strongly until the festival weekend.

The sequence that shows Prabhas in an old man getup was hyped in the film’s teaser and trailer, but it was completely omitted from the film. The news is that the makers have added the sequence in theaters today, and let’s wait to see how this can bring fans back to the theaters.

The Raja Saab 2 Days All Languages Box Office Collections

0

Before release, there were huge expectations on Prabhas’s The Raja Saab’s box office performance pan-India-wide, but looking at the film’s collections for 2 days across all versions, the film is performing only in Telugu.

The Raja Saab’s Day 2 all-versions gross is around ₹35 Cr, taking the total 2-day box office gross to approximately ₹138 Cr. More than 90% of collections are coming from Telugu, while Hindi is poor and other South Indian languages are outrightly disastrous.

For all languages, the film’s worldwide share until now is around ₹81 Cr, which includes GST in the Telugu states. It needs over ₹200 Cr share (400 Cr+ gross) to reach breakeven, and looking at the current trend, the target looks unreachable. Let’s wait and watch how the film will perform during the festival days.

Anaganaga Oka Raju Pre Release Business Details

0

Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju is all set to enthrall audiences in theaters in a couple of days, and the good news is that the film has done solid pre-business overall. The film has also put the producer into the profit zone even before release.

Anaganaga Oka Raju Pre-Business

Nizam: 7 Cr
Andhra: 10 Cr
Ceased: 2.5 Cr
ROI: 1.75 Cr
Overseas: 7 Cr

So, the total theatrical business of Anaganaga Oka Raju is 28 Cr, which is an extraordinary pre-release business. There are expectations in the trade that this film has a chance to do a ₹100 Cr gross.

With non-theatrical deals, the film has done more than 50 Cr business, resulting in table profits for producers.

Directed by Maari, the rural entertainer was produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film stars Naveen Polishetty and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead roles.

Parasakthi Boosts Sivakarthikeyan’s Stunning Hattrick

0

With Parasakthi, Sivakarthikeyan scores a hat-trick of million-dollar openings overseas and looks set for a hat-trick of double-digit openings in Tamil Nadu as well, as per estimates. It is a fantastic feat for the actor, as he is consistently delivering strong openings.

Like the other film, Jana Nayagan did not arrive in theaters for Pongal; this film is all set to post stronger numbers till next Sunday, and it’s expected to get close to being the 2nd biggest grosser for Siva Karthikeyan after Amaran in its full run.

Parasakthi Starts Well at the Box Office, but it needs to maintain its strong run

Though Sivakarthikeyan scored solid openings overseas with Parasakthi, the negative factor is that the film did not open with unanimous positive reports. It opens with mixed reports, and we need to see how the film performs in the coming days.

The Raja Saab Day 2 Box Office Estimates

0

Prabhas’ The Raja Saab is expected to collect around ₹35 Cr worldwide on Day 2 across all languages. While the Telugu states have posted somewhat respectable numbers, the overall worldwide performance remains weak.

The film clearly had a below-par Day 2 at the box office, and if we look at the business, it needs to collect 400 Cr + Gross for breakeven, whereas the 2-day gross is likely to be just above 135 Cr, which is not a good sign.

On the opening day, The Raja Saab makes more than 100 Cr gross, but on day 2 it collects just 1/3rd of it. Tomorrow needs to be a big day for this horror comedy, but the advances do not look promising.

For pan-India films, the collections need to come from all over India, not just one single language. Let us wait and watch how the Prabhas starrer gathers its strength at the box office in the coming days.

The Raja Saab Day 3 Bookings: Huge Drop Across All Areas

0

After collecting ₹100 crore gross on its first day, Prabhas’s The Raja Saab is witnessing a massive drop in advance bookings for Day 3 across all regions. The film now depends heavily on strong walk-ins to post decent numbers tomorrow.

In Hyderabad, Day 3 advance bookings on BookMyShow stand at ₹2.65 crore, which is only a 53% hold compared to Day 2. This is a worrying sign, clearly indicating that word of mouth and reviews are starting to affect the film’s performance.

The Raja Saab needs to deliver big on its third day

While The Raja Saab managed reasonably decent bookings on Day 2, the massive drop on Day 3 is not a positive trend for its box office run. Sunday collections are now crucial, as the film needs massive walk-ins to recover momentum.

After Sunday, the film is expected to face a strong pre-festival effect on Monday and Tuesday. It will also encounter fresh competition from Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. Considering all these factors, tomorrow’s collections will be very important, and the film must make the most of the weekend to secure big numbers at the box office.

The Raja Saab Hindi Version Crashes

0

The Raja Saab’s Hindi version sees a mediocre start at the box office with 6 Cr nett, and on day 2 the film is not seeing any jump. The shocking part is that today, Dhurandar, which was released last month, is doing much better than Prabhas’s movie at the box office.

On its 37th day, Dhurandhar is doing better than The Raja Saab’s Hindi version on its 2nd day. The tracked gross till 6:35 PM for Ranveer Singh’s film stands at ₹4.41 Cr with 26% occupancy, while The Raja Saab’s tracked gross stands at ₹3.39 Cr with 12% occupancy, which is very poor.

With this trend the film may not see many numbers after the weekend, and even doing 50 Cr net in a full run looks impossible for the film.

Excel Radhe Shyam, all films of Prabhas have done well in North India, but now, his latest film, The Raja Saab, is heading towards a big failure at the box office.
