The Raja Saab Needs Urgent Re-Editing

0

The latest biggie from the Telugu film industry, The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi and led by Prabhas, arrived in theaters today, and it did not receive the expected positive response from the fans, and in an introspective view, the film needs an urgent re-editing.

Instead of ignoring audience feedback and critics’ reviews, the team behind The Raja Saab should focus on editing and trimming unnecessary scenes that are affecting the flow of the film.

On paper, the movie has a strong story and includes some emotional and impactful moments. But the biggest issue lies in the lack of continuity and the presence of too many filler episodes, especially in the three heroines’ scenes. Several scenes feel dragged out or end abruptly, which weakens the overall impact.

There are positives too, such as the sentimental scenes involving the grandmother character, the Bomman Irani track, the hospital episode, and parts of the climax. But to make the film more engaging, the team should trim at least 40–50 minutes and release a crisper version before the festival. With 3–4 days left, this move could help family audiences enjoy the film better.

If the makers manage to edit it well, the film could benefit from stronger word of mouth, boosting its festival weekend collections. Additionally, including the much-talked-about Prabhas old man getup scene would enhance the audience’s experience further.

Jana Nayagan Release on Hold: A Detailed Story

0

Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan’s release has caught up with censor issues, with the CBFC objecting to clearance over concerns related to religious sentiments. Fans and the trade are really in shock with this development.

The film was originally scheduled to release today but was postponed earlier due to delays in obtaining the censor certificate. The makers then approached the court, leading to a dramatic turn of events.

In the morning, Justice P.T. Asha of the Madras High Court ruled in favor of the producers, KVN Productions, and directed the CBFC to issue a U/A certificate immediately. The producers argued that the CBFC had already recommended certification with minor cuts after screening the film on December 19, 2025, but later sent it to a revising committee based on a complaint, causing unnecessary delays.

However, the CBFC quickly filed an appeal before the division bench led by the Chief Justice. The case was heard urgently in the afternoon, and the single judge’s order was stayed. This halted the immediate certification and release of the film. The Chief Justice also questioned why the producers had announced a release date before receiving final clearance.

The matter has now been adjourned to January 21, 2026, after the Pongal holidays. This means the film will not release in January, including during Pongal, unless the makers approach the Supreme Court. Reports suggest they may move the Supreme Court on Monday, but this has not been confirmed.

For now, Jana Nayagan’s release remains uncertain, with no new date announced. The legal battle continues, making the situation even more significant as this film is expected to be Vijay’s last movie before he fully enters politics.

Nidhhi Agerwal Keeps Making Terrible Telugu Choices

0

Actress Nidhhi Agerwal came up with The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi. The film has opened to unanimous negative or mixed reviews, and fans say that Nidhhi Agerwal continues to make terrible choices in Telugu Films.

The biggest issue is that many actresses agree to films without clearly understanding their roles or the story of the film. This is one of the main reasons why several actresses fail to build a long and successful career with memorable roles, even after acting in multiple movies.

If we look at Nidhhi Agerwal’s Telugu films, Savyasachi, iSmart Shankar, Mr. Majnu, Hero, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and now The Raja Saab, only iSmart Shankar became a box office success. Although she has been part of several films and big projects, she has not been given a strong or iconic role that truly showcases her acting abilities. This lack of impactful roles is one of the reasons she currently does not have many upcoming film offers.

Kantara Chapter 1 and Mahavatar Narsimha Enters Oscar Race

0

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, and Hombale Film’s Mahavatar Narsimha enter the Oscar Race as they have made it onto the list of 201 feature films that can be considered for the 98th Academy Awards. India’s official entry for the Oscars this year is Homebound.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced the 201 films that qualify for the important Best Picture category, as reported by Variety. The films that are eligible for Best Picture have met all the extra requirements needed beyond just general entry.

The films also had to meet at least two of the four Academy inclusion standards and have a qualifying theatrical engagement in 10 of the top 50 US markets within 45 days of their initial release in 2025.

After fulfilling all the requirements to qualify for the Best Picture category, Mahavatar Narsimha and Kantara Chapter 1, are now potential contenders for the Oscars.

The Oscar contention list is the first eligibility stage of the Academy Awards. At this stage, filmmakers who meet the Academy’s criteria can submit their films for consideration in different categories. The process includes meeting eligibility requirements, paying the necessary fees, and formally submitting the film so it can be reviewed by Academy members for possible nomination.

Court Shock for Vaa Vaathiyaar: Public Auction Announced

0

In a turn of surprising events, Karthi’s film, Vaa Vaathiyaar’s rights, have been put up for auction by the court. The film has already faced several delays and hurdles, and it faces a new issue with this.

The Madras High Court has directed a public auction of the movie Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi, to recover ₹21 crore in alleged unpaid dues owed by the film’s producer to the financier. The release date now depends on the outcome of the auction and the settlement of the dues.

Vaa Vaathiyar was originally scheduled to be released on December 12, 2025. However, it could not be released because the Official Assignee of the High Court filed an execution petition, requesting that K.E. Gnanavel Raja of the production house settle dues amounting to ₹21.78 crore.

Parasakthi Clears All Release Hurdles

0

Putting an end to all the rumors, Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi has cleared all its release hurdles and is now ready to entertain audiences in theatres from tomorrow. The censor board had initially suggested several cuts, including some key portions of the film, which led the team to approach the Revising Committee.

The Revising Committee also recommended a few changes, and the makers edited the film accordingly. After reviewing the revised version, the committee finally granted the censor certificate.

Can Parasakthi Leverage Its Solo Release for Box Office Success?

In total, the film underwent around 25 censor cuts or mutes. The Tamil version of Parasakthi has cleared all its release hurdles and received a U/A certificate and has a runtime of 162 minutes and 43 seconds.

This clearance comes as a major advantage for the film, as it is set to enjoy an almost solo festival weekend. Jana Nayagan is still caught in a legal battle over its censor issues. If Parasakthi opens with positive word of mouth, it has the potential to achieve massive box office collections, similar to Amaran.

The Raja Saab: Where Is Old Prabhas?

0

The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, was released today and is receiving mixed to negative reviews. However, apart from the reviews, fans are questioning the team about Prabhas’s old man look, which is completely missing from the film.

In the teaser, the makers excited fans by showing Prabhas in an aged look, sitting on a king’s chair. This scene became one of the biggest highlights of the film’s promotions. Many believed this look would play an important role in the story.

Prabhas looked stylish in the old man getup, with his swag, cigar, and costumes standing out. Audiences expected this to be a powerful moment in the film where the Rebel Star would dominate the screen.

Since Prabhas’s character is shown as a normal human and Sanjay Dutt’s character has special powers, viewers assumed that Prabhas would either outsmart the villain or gain extraordinary powers in this aged look. Some even thought this appearance would be linked to a flashback and the film’s backstory.

However, all these expectations were shattered. Shockingly, there is not a single scene in the movie that features Prabhas in the old man getup. Regardless of the film’s reviews and word of mouth, heavily teasing this look in promotions and then excluding it from the film has disappointed audiences even more.

Another letdown is the Joker look, which created a lot of buzz after Trailer 2.0. In the movie, this look has no real importance and is used only to announce the next part. Prabhas appears in this getup without generating much excitement. In hindsight, there was no real need to reveal this look in the promotional material.

Ticket Hikes: The Strategy That Is Hurting Tollywood

0

Tollywood, the Telugu film industry, has seen frequent ticket price hikes in recent years. Pushpa 2 took this trend to another level by introducing premium pricing for premiere shows, with ticket rates going up to around ₹1,000.

Even though Pushpa 2 was a profitable film even before release, many are questioning the intention behind such massive ticket hikes by the production house, Mythri Movie Makers. When one big film changes the pricing pattern, the entire industry tends to follow it. Unfortunately, this strategy brings more negatives than positives.

Huge Ticket Prices Are Reducing Footfalls

High ticket prices have become a heavy burden for audiences. In addition, online bookings are often opened very late, which further reduces theatre footfalls. Because of this, distributors are struggling to understand the real craze and box office potential of films.

If movies are sold at reasonable prices with affordable ticket rates, many of these issues can be avoided. Despite the hikes, overall collections are not increasing. In fact, several films released in the past—before such hikes became common—earned more than recent films. The main difference is the sharp drop in ticket sales.

The strategy of buyers trying to recover their entire investment within the opening weekend has turned out to be one of the worst approaches.

Who Really Benefits from Ticket Hikes?

It is unclear who actually benefits from these steep ticket prices. Audiences are unhappy, the government is facing unnecessary legal issues and negative publicity, and distributors say that theatre footfalls are being affected. Even producers have admitted that frequent hikes are harming the industry.

This raises a big question: for whose benefit is the industry going in circles? Hopefully, the industry will come together and hold discussions with the government to find a permanent solution—either by revising ticket prices fairly or by allowing additional shows.

At the same time, the government should take a clear and consistent stand and create a system where every film does not have to seek special permission for ticket price hikes.

Chiranjeevi Rampage in America

0

There are a few days left for Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu’s theatrical release. Megastar Chiranjeevi is doing a rampage in America with the pre-sales of this entertainer. The film developed a good buzz in recent days.

There were expectations that Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu would collect around $500K–$600K in North American premieres. Initially, the momentum was slow, but the film is picking up rapidly in the past 2 days, with massive jumps.

Today, the film is crossing $500K in pre-sales, and there are chances for it to get near the million mark before shows start.

Now, MSG is all set to deliver Anil Ravipudi’s first million-dollar premiere. There are also chances for it to get Chiranjeevi’s biggest premieres by beating Khaidi No. 150’s sensational trending and rampage bookings.

OG’s Premieres Record Looks Unbreakable

0

Tollywood started the premieres trend with flat ticket prices with Pushpa 2. Later, every big film continued with the same strategy, but Pawan Kalyan’s OG’s Premieres record looks unbearable.

They Call Him OG was released last year during the Dasara season with massive buzz and huge ticket hikes and set an all-time record collection for premieres with more than ₹25 Cr gross in India. It stands as the record holder in both Telugu states and across India,

The Raja Saab team applied for ₹1000 ticket prices for premieres in both Telugu states. In Andhra Pradesh, they got permission, but the Telangana government denied it. The team waited until the last minute, and with no other choice, they were forced to open limited premieres with regular ticket prices at the last moment. Because of this, the film did not even come close to OG numbers from premiere shows.

Now, looking at the conditions, Telangana seems to have decided not to allow record ticket hikes. It might happen in Andhra Pradesh also in the future, as governments are getting unnecessary headaches because of these hikes, bringing both bad names and legal troubles.

With this, it is likely that there will be only reasonable hikes for Telugu Films from next time. With such hikes, whether or not big films will go for premieres is a big question. With all these conditions, the OG premieres record will hold for a long time..
