Robinhood Movie Review: Only For a Few Laughs

0

Movie Name: Robinhood
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast:
Nithin, Sree Leela, Rajendra Prasad, Aadukalam Naren and others
Director: Venky Kudumula
Produced By:
Mythri Movie Makers
Release Date: 28th March 2025

Nithin and Venky Kudumula’s second movie, Robinhood, is in theaters today. The lead actress, Sreeleela, stars in the film, which includes a special appearance by Australian cricketer David Warner. In our review, we will find out whether Venky Kudumula repeated his magic of Chalo and Bhesshma.

Story:

As a young orphan, Ram (Nithin) witnesses the struggles of his fellow orphans who are suffering from hunger. This motivates him to come up with smart plans to steal money from the rich/corrupt persons, which he then shares with those in need. At the same time, a cruel villain, Saamy (Devadatta Nage), is looking to grow his illegal marijuana business on a global scale. He discovers that a special type of marijuana from Rudrakonda village is in high demand.

Meanwhile, Reena Vasudev (Sreeleela) is on her way to Rudrakonda. What connection does Saamy have with Abhinav Vasudev (Sijju), the head of AV Pharma (Reena’s father) in Australia? Why does Ram decide to join her as a security guard? And how does the drug lord David (David Warner) play a role in this story? The rest of the film answers all the questions.

Performances:

Nithin does a fine job in the titular role. He was impressive in action scenes. Sreeleela gets a chance to do comedy in a few scenes, and she is okay. She looks gorgeous in songs. Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad produce laughs whenever they get an opportunity. Devadutta Nage is okay as the main villain. Shine Tom Chacko, Aadukalam Naren, Lal, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and others are okay.

Analysis:

Director Venky Kudumula is known for making hilarious entertainers with simple plots and emotions. With Robinhood, he tries to move into the action/commercial side. The story is quite predictable, and the way Venky narrated the film is disappointing.

When you make a movie with formulaic elements, all the parts should align perfectly and produce a proper entertainment value to the audiences. But Robinhood fails to do so. There are a few hilarious moments by Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad in the first half which makes it passable despite the main track of the lead being weak.

The interval episode is not so great but post interval, one expects things to change. However, the narration continues to fail in the latter half and picks up only in a few places. Like in many movies, the villain, initially portrayed as a powerful character, becomes a weak figure by the climax, which is disappointing.

Moreover, the humor that is effective in the first half disappears in the second half, but a few emotional scenes near the pre climax and the key revelation about hero’s character work well, though not great. The most hyped cameo of Cricketer David Warner also falls flat, as it arrives in a silly manner.

Positives:

  • Comedy Scenes in the First Half
  • Few Crucial Scenes/Dialogues
  • Sreeeleela’s Glamour

Negatives:

  • Weak Second Half
  • Dull Parts
  • Improper situations for Songs

Robindhood Movie Review and Verdict:

Nithin and Venky Kudumula’s Robinhood works only for a few laughs along with a few action/sentiment blocks and good production values. The film fails to engage thoroughly and remains as an ordinary film.

MAD Square Movie Review: A Fun Ride With a Few Boring Parts

0

Movie Name: MAD Square
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:
Narne Nithiin, Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin and Vishnu Oi
Director: Kalyan Shankar
Produced By:
Haarika Suryadevara
Release Date: 28th March 2025

MAD Square, the follow-up to the hit comedy MAD (2023), has created a huge buzz among viewers. The film’s teaser and trailer have been very effective, complemented by a popular song, Swathi Reddy. Let’s find out whether the film is as hilarious as it intended.

Story:

Manoj (Ram Nithin), Ashok (Nithin Narne), and Damodar -DD (Sangeeth Shobhan), arrive at wedding their best friend Laddu (Vishnu Oi). The rest of the story highlights the Friends gang’s chaotic and funny adventures.

Performances:

Sangeeth Sobhan, Narne Nithiin, and Ram Nithin engage audiences effectively, with Sangeeth shining brightly due to his impressive energy in key moments. Vishnu Oi excels as Laddu, making his struggles and frustrated reactions entertaining for viewers. Muralidhar Goud shines as his father, bringing humor with perfect comedic timing. Sunil, as Bhai, fails to make a mark, except for a few with Muralidhar Goud. Supporting characters like Antony and Satyam Rajesh were not utilized properly.

Analysis:

MAD Square is a lighthearted coming-of-age comedy that delivers a fair share of laughs. The film lacks a strong plot but excels in entertaining moments and the chemistry among Sangeeth Sobhan, Narne Nithiin, Ram Nithin, and Vishnu Oi.The movie includes well-done comedic moments, notably at Laddu’s wedding in the first half. Some points in the second half shine, such as Suneel and Muralidhar Goud’s interactions.

As said by the producers of MAD Sequel, the film features minimal story, but the real issue is the inconsistency in providing laughs. Some jokes fail to impress, making the humor feel unnatural at times. A significant twist occurs at the climax, yet it fails to resonate. The film does not have the entertaining vibe and catchy tunes present in the original.

Positives:

  • Energetic Performances from the Lead Cast
  • Fun Episodes
  • Swathi Reddy Song

Negatives:

  • Repetitive/Forced Humor
  • Boring Moments
  • Music

MAD Square Movie Review and Verdict:

Director Kalyan Shankar intends to make a fun sequel with MAD Square, yet misses the mark slightly. The film has enough fun moments, to entertain along with boring parts. All the lead actors perform well in the film.

On personal front, the actress got married last year. Due to these multiple other industry committments and wedding, she has not signed any new Telugu films.

Now the actress has shifted her focus to Telugu and has been receiving multiple Telugu opportunities. Four of the Recently released films are set to make their OTT entry on March 28. The films include Mazaka starring Sundeep Kishan, Sabdham starring Aadi Pinisetty, Agathiyaa starring Jiiva and Deva starring Shahid Kapoor. All of these films performed underwhelming at the box office.

Mazaka is set to premiere on Zee5. The film is a comedy entertainer directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina. The team also had high hopes, but the film faltered at the box office for its routine direction and narration. Sundeep Kishan who expected a hit has to struggle for some more time with this.

Deva will air on Netflix. The film is a Police Drama directed by Rosshan Andrrews released this year. But it didn’t acquire a positive word of mouth leading to a below par performance at the box office. However, the team expects it to perform well on the OTT platform with Shahid Kapoor’s electrifying performance and Pooja Hegde’s charm.

Sabdham will make the entry on Amazon Prime Video. The film is a Fantasy Thriller directed by Arivazhagan Venkatachalam. Aadi Pinisetty who expected to deliver a hit with the film has been disappointed with the result. But the film will be a good watch considering its genre.

MAD Square censor, business, Advance Bookings and all details inside

0

MAD Square is slated for release on 28th March worldwide. The film also has many films in clash at the box office this weekend. Still, MAD Square becomes the no.1 choice for the Telugu Audiences and advance bookings of the film also explain the same. The film’s censor formalities have also been completed.

MAD Square has been censored with a U/A certificate (16+) and has a runtime of 127 minutes i.e., 2 hours and 7 minutes. This is surprisingly a shorter length than the usual 2-and-a-half-hour runtime. Apart from this, MAD Square is carrying very good advances in the USA region. The opening day is expected to be more than $500K and initial advances in Telugu States also look promising.

The film is set to open with a double digit number worldwide. The total theatrical business of the film is valued at 25 crores approximately and the film has high chances to recover this by the 4 days of its run. And coming to the Non-Theatrical business, Netflix has acquired the digital rights and the film will arrive on the OTT after 4 weeks of release.

Mazaka Arrives on OTT: Streaming Details Here

0

Sundeep Kishan’s Mazaka was released in theaters worldwide on February 26, 2025. Despite receiving decent talk and getting released on Maha Shivaratri festival day, the film failed to get good collections at the box office. The OTT viewers can enjoy this movie as Mazaka arrives on OTT.

Directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina, Mazaka is made on a massive budget of 30 Cr, and the team believed so much and made good publicity. As said above, it got decent reviews, but somehow, the movie failed to grab audiences’ attention, and Dragon’s success made it the first choice for audiences at that time.

Can Mazaka achieve success on OTT?

It can be said that if the film had been released on a better date, like summer, it could have done better at the box office. A lot of films do not work at the box office, but they get recognition upon their digital release.

Now, as Mazaka arrives on OTT, it can repeat the same feat. Theatrically, it was a big failure, but people are eagerly waiting for the OTT release. The film is available for streaming on ZEE5.

MAD Square Sees Huge Advances: Massive Start Expected

0

MAD Square, the sequel to the hilarious blockbuster MAD (2023), has garnered superb craze among audiences. The film’s teaser and trailer worked very well along with a blockbuster song, Swathi Reddy. The trade expects a massive start from MAD Square as it sees huge advances.

The craze of sequels was again witnessed with Mad Square. As said above, the film is carrying very good advances for day 1 with more than 6.5 Cr worldwide. Most of the numbers are coming from Hyderabad and the USA, which is expected for the film.

MAD Square: Huge Expectations on Box Office Performance

Definitely, for most of the audience, it will be the no. 1 preference for this weekend. The trade expects a massive start from MAD Square as it sees huge advances. The film’s day 1 number is expected to go near 15 Cr gross worldwide if the WOM comes positive.

The film has to collect around 50 Cr gross for breakeven status, and if it receives a positive talk, then the number can be achieved by Monday itself.

MAD Square Cast & Crew Details:

Directed by Kalyan Shankar and produced by Haarika Suryadevara and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios, MAD Square stars Narne Nithiin, Sangeeth Shobhan, and Ram Nithin. The film is presented by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.

Robinhood at big risk

0

Nithin’s Robinhood is all set to be released in theaters worldwide in a few hours. Despite having decent audio, a good trailer, and other commercial elements like a blockbuster hero-director combo and Ketika Sharma’s special song, the film failed to attract audiences. Robinhood is now at a big risk.

The film also has the most hyped cameo of cricketer David Warner. However, even with all these hype factors, the film somehow failed to get audiences’ anticipation. The film was also affected massively by competition with MAD Square.

Poor Advances for Nithin’s Robinhood

Robinhood is carrying only around 1.5 Cr in advances for opening day, and it needs a very strong WOM to get good collections. The WOM and reviews will have to be better than Mad Square to bring audiences to the theaters.

Otherwise, Nithin’s Robinhood will be at a big risk. The film needs to score 27-28 Cr for theatrical break-even, but for the producers to be in a profitable zone, the film needs to collect more than 40 Cr share due to being over budget.

Can Venky Kudmula Score a Hatrick with Robinhood?

For all these calculations, Venky Kudumula has to strike much bigger than his earlier films, Chalo and Bheeshma. We have seen many films where the advances will be slow before release.

But after the release, with the help of positive WOM, those films turned into money spinners. The positive point for the film is it is an entertainer with all commercial elements, and it is also getting released on a big festival weekend with Ugadi and Ramzan holidays.
