Jeevitha jumps into fray against Vishnu and Prakash Raj

The Movies Artists Association (MAA) elections took another eventful turn with Jeevitha gearing up to announce her candidacy for the elections. In the 2019 elections, Jeevitha and her husband Rajasekhar won as the secretary and executive president respectively. Rajasekhar though had to quit his post owing to differences with actor Naresh.

Jeevitha, meanwhile is planning to meet industry seniors seeking their support for the elections. It was recently revealed that actor Manchu Vishnu will also be contesting in the elections. The ‘Mosagallu’ actor even met Superstar Krishna recently seeking his support.

Jeevitha will be facing a tough battle from Prakash Raj, who has already made many public announcements confirming his candidature. The three way contest is expected to be intensely fought just like the previous MAA elections.

Vijay’s Beast joins the Sankrathi race

The upcoming Sankrathi release season just got more exciting with ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Beast joining the race. On the eve of Vijay’s birthday, the first look was released and has been a hit all over. Two posters were released by the makers of the film and Vijay can be seen in an action still in both of them.

Meanwhile, the list of Tollywood biggies lined up for Sankranthi is getting more exciting day by day. Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata was the first film to schedule the Sankranthi date. Post this Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu is also looking for the same time. Now, after multiple delays due to pandemic, it is being reported that SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR might also be staring at a Sankranthi slot. With Vijay’s Beast also joining the race the festive season has just got more exciting.

Nelson Dilieepkumar is directing this action thriller and Pooja Hegde will star as the female lead in Vijay’s Beast. Sun Pictures is producing the film while Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for the film.

Vijay Devarakonda’s statement: Confidence or overconfidence

Vijay Devarakonda is gearing up for his much-awaited sports action film Liger. The movie will be his first pan-India film and both Vijay and his fans are all excited for the release. The Rowdy star will be playing the role of a boxer in this film and has been training hard for the last year to fit into the role.

Amidst a variety of news floating about the movie, a recent post on social media became viral claiming Liger has received a Rs 200 crore offer for an OTT release. The actor rubbished the rumour with a tweet and posted, “Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters.“

While fans are euphoric after this statement from him, many are questioning whether this is Vijay’s confidence on the subject or a means to hype the film.

Director Puri Jagannath recently returned to hit track after a spate of flops while Vijay’ Devarakonda’ s last few movies haven’t done well at the box office. This has led to huge expectations from Liger. However, claiming a 200 crore business with the movie still in the filming stage has come across as far-fetched for quite a few netizens.

The movie will have a bunch of massy action scenes in true Puri Jagannath style. Vijay will be essaying the role of a national-level boxer in the first half. Post this, he would move on to the international arena in the second half. Vijay’s massy characterization and Puri’s intense writing are going to be the high points of the movie. Ramya Krishna will also be playing a crucial role in the movie.

Manchu Vishnu to contest for MAA President

Manchu Vishnu, who is having a lean run at the box office of late has made a surprising decision. The ‘Mosagallu’ actor has announced that he will be running for the post of Movies Artist Association (MAA) President. The actor and producer met Superstar Krishna earlier seeking the latter’s blessing and support for the upcoming elections.

The contest is going to be an interesting one this time around considering the fact that Vishnu will be facing Prakash Raj. Prakash Raj has already confirmed his candidacy and has given multiple interviews about the elections. Vishnu has got the support from the Naresh group. Actor Naresh is the current president of the association.

The battles for the office of MAA have always been heated ones with groups indulging in extensive campaigning and ferrying supports from the industry bigwigs. Manchu Vishnu’s meeting with Superstar Krishna is being seen as the beginning of his campaign. Vishnu, along with father Mohan Babu are expected to meet Megastar Chiranjeevi next.

Interestingly, reports are coming up of a possible meet between Megastar Chiranjeevi and Prakash Raj as well.

RRR shoot resumes today

After a long break caused by the pandemic, the shooting of SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited RRR resumed today. The entire cast and crew are raring to go only floors to complete the remaining portion. Mega Power Star Ram Charan will be shooting for some key scenes during this schedule.

Nearly 30-35 days of shoot is balance which the makers aim to finish at the earliest. The shoot of 3 songs and some talkie parts are in balance which the makers are looking to finish in the coming couple of months. According to sources, the team will be shooting for a song in Hyderabad during this period and RRR makers have invested a whopping amount for the same. 

Due to the unforeseen delays caused by the pandemic, RRR which was earlier looking for a release in October might be moved to Sankranti 2022.

DVV Danayya is backing this multi starrer project under his banner DVV Entertainments. MM Keeravani will be composing music for this period action drama

After Chiranjeevi, its Kartikeya

The first look of Kartikeya Gummakonda’s upcoming action thriller Raja Vikramarka was released by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Titled after Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 1990 action drama with the same name, the film will feature Kartikeya as an NIA officer.

Sri Saripalli will make his directorial debut with this action thriller. Kartikeya took to Twitter to express his excitement over the film.

Nithiin’s Maestro to go for direct OTT release

Nithiin who is in desperate need of a hit has reportedly made the decision to go for an OTT release for his upcoming film Maestro.

Nithiin’s Maestro is a remake of 2018 Ayushman Khurana starter Andhadhun. Andhadhun was a massive success in Hindi and won 3 National awards. The film won the best film and screenplay while Ayushman received the Best Actor that year.

Maestro is the story of a blind pianist who unintentionally gets caught in a murder mystery. What happens next is the crux of the film.

Nabha Natesh and Tamannah co-star in this crime thriller. While Nabha will be essaying Radhika Apte’s role, Tamannah is slated to play Tabu’s character. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Nithiin’s Maestro was scheduled to release on June 11th. However, the present prevailing conditions have pushed the release date further leading to the makers taking this decision

Akhanda shoot to resume soon!

Akhanda is one of the most awaited movies of the year. This much-awaited action thriller has got the fans on toes in anticipation. While the movie announcement last year got fans all excited, the teaser has taken their anticipations to greater heights.

Akhanda shoot came to a halt recently due to the pandemic much to the disappointment of the fans who are eager to catch Balakrishna- Boyapati on screen together. It is being reported that after a delay, the film’s shoot will resume soon.

The film will go on floors again in July 1st week and the makers are aiming for a release on September 10th. Akhanda is the third one in Balakrishna and Boyapati combination after the hugely successful Simha and Legend. The massively successful teaser that has clocked 50 million plus views in record time has further heightened the expectations.

Amazon Prime Video to acquire Salaar digital rights!

Prabhas’ much-awaited action thriller Salaar has been making news right from its announcement. The combination of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel is heightening the expectations by day.

According to latest reports OTT giant Amazon Prime Video has offered a fancy sum to the Hombale Films for Salaar’s digital rights. Additionally, it is also being reported that Hombale Films which is backing KGF2 as well has got an equally lucrative deal for the Yash starrer as well.

It is to be noted that Amazon holds the digital rights of KGF: Chapter 1 in all the languages. Hence the chances of makers leaning towards the same OTT giant are quite high.

Salaar is presently in filming mode and the unit recently wrapped up the Godavarikhani schedule. Some high octane action sequences featuring Prabhas were shot here before the pandemic forced shoot to halt. Shruti Haasan is paired opposite Prabhas in this much awaited action thriller.

Can Vakeel Saab feed theatres?

Power Star Pawan Kalyan made a great comeback with Vakeel Saab earlier in April.  Power Star’s comeback to the big screen after 3 years was enough to generate massive hype for the movie. Such were the expectations on the film that it got great openings and occupancies. 

However, the second wave of pandemic played a spoilsport and led to the closure of the theatres. This led to Dil Raju renegotiating a deal with Amazon Prime and releasing the movie within 30 days of release.

Initially, it was decided that the movie will be released on Amazon Prime after 50 days of the release. However, with the film’s theatrical run slowing down due to rising corona cases and AP government’s restrictions on ticket rates, Dil Raju changed the plans

Now, with the theatres reopening slowly with 50% occupancy, it is being reported that the courtroom drama will once again be played at theatres owned by Dil Raju.

A large number of audience have already watched the movie during its initial release and also on the Amazon Prime Video. In such conditions would be interesting to watch how the decision to show Vakeel Saab again would play out.
