0

Venkatesh’s Drushyam 2 is all set for its release on 25th November. The film will release on Amazon Prime Video making it his consecutive digital release. The film stars Meena, Nadhiya, and Sampath Raj in key roles.

Meanwhile, just before its release, Venkatesh’s Drushyam 2 has found itself in legal troubles. OTT giant Disney + Hotstar ha taken legal action against the makers of Drushyam 2 for backing down from their initial agreement. Drishyam 2 makers reportedly had planned to premiere the movie on Disney + Hotstar but later signed up the deal with Amazon Prime Video.

Drushyam 2 has completed all the formalities including the censor and it received a clean U certificate back in September. Meena, Nadhiya, Naresh, Kruthika, Esther Anil have reprised their roles from the first part, while Sampath Raj and Poorna are the new addition to the ensemble cast.

Jeethu Joseph has directed this version as well while Anup Rubens has composed the music. The movie is bankrolled by Suresh Productions who had maintained suspense over the film’s release for quite some time

The Drushyam actor is now all set for his next film. He will join hands with young director Tharun Bhascker for his upcoming film. The movie will go on floors in January 2022 and will be bankrolled under Suresh Productions Banner.

Tharun Bhascker will be making his comeback to feature films after three years. He last directed a segment in Telugu anthology ‘Pitta Kathalu’.

Industry talk: Pawan Kalyan’s stand was right, need to speak up!

0

The ongoing ticket prices issue has not seen any resolution and is being dragged. Amidst this another chance of another blow from the AP government to the film industry has cropped up. Balakrishna, earlier today called for a press meet and warned the YSRCP government that any unparliamentary language against women would not be tolerated. He further stated that the consequences will be unfavourable to the government next time around.

On one hand, when the industry is already suffering from the tickets issue, products, distributors, and exhibitors are concerned if this would have a negative impact on the upcoming films. The trade circles despite their dissent have been silent for months on the entire pricing fiasco fearing a backlash from the government.

However, there’s another belief that’s cropping up amongst the trade circles after Balayya’s attack. The industry insiders believe that it is time they stand for what is right and make their displeasure known.

Pawan Kalyan was the first person from the industry to have come ahead tearing the YSRCP government’s ticket policy into shreds. He openly stated during Republic pre-release event that the government has no right to interfere in pricing. However, this statement of Pawan found no support back them and the producers guild even issued a statement distancing themselves from his opinions. Even Powerstar’s own family didn’t support him back them fearing a backlash.

However, now things are changing. While the government has slightly eased its stance on the tickets, there are high chances of them tightening their noose after Balayya’s media statements. The trade circles are also of the opinion that a united stance on the matter is the only way and voicing dissent and standing up for their opinions is the only solution. Mere sycophancy towards the government would not benefit them in long run.

Balakrishna press meet: YSRCP to repeat revenge politics?

0

Balakrishna’s press meet a while ago has come in as a shot in the arm for TDP . The statements have provide a major boost for the party cadre. Balayya directly warned the YSRCP and advised them to refrain from such unparliamentary statements for their own good.

The makers of Balakrishna’s Akhanda have been fearing that Balakrishna’s press meet would again give rise to revenge politics. Now, this fear has spread to the other filmmakers as well.

Early last year, the YSRCP government had released G.O on ticket prices in retaliation to Pawan Kalyan. The ticket prices issue that started with Vakeel Saab has been stretched too far. The cine industry held multiple meetings with AP government to resolve it.

Recently minister Perni Nani had indicated at relaxations on the issue and stated that further deliberations would be held on the issue. Now with Balakrishna’s open warning, there is a chance that YSRCP might again target not just his release but all the upcoming ones as well.

Nani confident of Shyam Singha Roy but there is a small issue

0

After releasing back-to-back movies on OTT, Nani will finally be returning to the big screen with Shyam Singha Roy. Rahul Sankirthyan has directed this supernatural thriller and the recently released teaser looked impressive. Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy will release on December 24th and will compete with Varun Tej’s Ghani.

Despite the competition, Nani is quite confident of his film’s output and content. And rightly so, he doesn’t have much to worry about Ghani. As far as the buzz is concerned, Shyam Singha Roy has created greater expectations and positive vibes as compared to Ghani. This is the reason Nani refused to move the release date from December 24th even after Geetha Arts’ request.

However, there is one big problem that is bothering the entire unit of Shyam Singha Roy and that is Pushpa. Pushpa will be releasing just a week before SSR on December 17th. The film still has a lot of shooting portion in balance and there is a possibility that the release date of Pushpa might be postponed by a week on either December 23rd or 24th.

If Pushpa is postponed by a week, then that would be a real concern for Nani as Icon Star Allu Arjun’s Pushpa is carrying way more craze and expectations that Shyam Singha Roy.

Suriya’s film to finally release in theatres in 2022

0

Suriya’s last two films Soorarai Pottru (Akasham Nee Haddura) and Jai Bhim received great critical acclaim and were a major success. However, the fans and movie lovers had only one complaint that these two films were OTT releases and not theatre releases. Both the films were released on Amazon Prime video with Suriya’s performance receiving great appreciation.

Now, after a gap of 3 years, Suriya will finally be seen on the big screen. His next film Etharkkum Thunindhavan will hit the theatres in 2022. Etharkkum Thunindhavan is a family entertainer and will release on February 4th. Priyanka Mohanan will star opposite Suriya for the first time and Pandiraj will direct this film.

National Award winner D Imman is composing the tunes while Sun Pictures will back the project.

Boyapati not happy with producers decision on Akhanda

0

Boyapati Srinu has put a lot of trust and effort into his latest directorial Akhanda. The director has carved out of ordinary action sequences and together with Balayya, he is confident of delivering a resounding hat-trick. The trade circles are also quite confident of the movie’s performance and the pre-release business is proof of that.

However, there is a major discontentment from Boyapati’s side and is leading to clashes with the producers. The film completed its censor yesterday and it has a runtime of 2 hours and 47 minutes 15 seconds. As has been his style, Boyapati has included some heavy-duty action sequences and dialogues.

The censor board has recommended heavy cuts into the movie if the makers need a U/A certificate. The producers are willing to go for cuts and receive and U/A certificate. Boyapati, on the other hand, doesn’t want any major cuts and is comfortable with an A certificate for the film. This difference of opinion is causing a tussle between the producer and director. The mass action entertainer is all set to release on 2nd December.

YSRCP vs TDP row: Distributors hoping for Balakrishna’s silence

0

The onging tussle between YSRCP and TDP has taken an ugly turn with both the parties exchanging heated words. Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s media address earlier today is expected to fuel the war of words to another level. Amidst all this noise, distributors of Balakrishna’s upcoming film Akhanda are a worried bunch.

According to the reports, the distributors are concerned that Balakrishna might join this war of words and make a strong statement. Balakrishna has never been the one to back down from any challenge and when it comes to TDP’s prestige he is known to take things head-on.

However, with just a couple of weeks to go for Akhanda’s release, the distributors are praying for Balayya’s silence. Any inflammatory statement from him might affect the movie’s performance. A lot is riding on Balakrishna’s Akhanda and in this situation, the stakeholders to the movie believe that silence is the best policy. Whether Balayya maintains a diplomatic silence or not needs to be seen.
