War 2: Biggest Opener Equation Out of the Race

0

War 2 features a massive combination of Hrithik Roshan and NTR, and it is also a part of the YRF Spy Universe. Because of these huge aspects, trade expected big openings from the film. But War 2 becoming the biggest opener looks out of the equation now.

A few months ago, there were massive expectations on this spy action drama that it would set new benchmarks for Bollywood openings. The trade expected it to start with a worldwide gross of around 150 Cr, 175 Cr.

War 2 fails to maintain the initial hype among audiences and trade

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is the biggest opener for Bollywood with close to 130 Cr gross, and the sequel of War was expected to break this record 100% by a big margin. However, the box office clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie (with a massive craze) hampered its hype.

Also, the YRF team officially stated that they intentionally underplayed the content in promotions, which affected the film’s craze in a big way.

Scoring the biggest opening for Bollywood looks tough for War 2

Now looking at the advance bookings trend, breaking Jawan’s opening looks out of the equation for Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2. The Hindi version is looking at a 35 Cr gross start in India.

The Telugu States are expected to take around 40 Cr to start, while overseas expectations are in the 25 Cr+ range. Overall, the film’s worldwide day 1 expectations are now at 100 Cr, including ROI.

With Big Positive WOM, the opening can go at 110 Cr. But there is almost no chance for the film to cross Jawan’s opening.
