0

Tollywood ticket rates issue is heating up with each day. Just a day after the High Court struck down the G.O 35, the government has appealed for an immediate hearing on the issue to discuss the matter further.

The government’s counsel has argued that this decision from the high court might lead to exploitation from filmmakers. The government’s argument is that the decision to regulate the prices of tickets was taken in the best interest of the people. Revoking this order will only lead to higher ticket prices making movie experience unaffordable for many.

The High Court has taken immediate cognizance of the issue. The court has further stated that a hearing on this issue will be held immediately tomorrow.

In the month of April, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders which put a slab on the ticket rates as per the theatre’s locations. Tollywood producers have expressed serious concerns over this G.O.

Tollywood is going to witness a number of big-ticket films in the coming days. The producers and distributors are counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown. However, If this situation prevails biggies will have to struggle really hard to recover their investment.

The ongoing tickets issue has now taken another turn. Just a day after the AP High Court trashed the G.O 35, the government has decided to challenge it. According to the reports, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to appeal against this decision of the High Court in what it is terming as an anti-people.

The government has stated that it will challenge this decision for the benefit of the people of Andhra Pradesh. The whole issue started back in April when the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government issued G.O 35.

According to the earlier rules, the government could fix the maximum admission rates of movie theatres. Now this ‘maximum’ clause has been removed and it has empowered the government to change the ticket rates from time to time depending on the need and demands of the situation. This decision created great panic in industry circles.

A series of meetings were held between the film industry big wigs and Jaganmohan Reddy and Perni Nani. None of these meetings brought any conclusion.

Jaganmohan Reddy has been quite firm on this move. He has not been willing to go back on the price rates for quite some time. This decision has put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they are already reeling under losses due to Covid enforced lockdown.

A number of Tollywood biggies are set to release in the coming days. With the government intervening in High Court’s decision now, it needs to be seen what new turn this takes.

Clock ticking on Allu Arjun’s Pushpa; will it deliver on time?

0

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa is racing against the time. The Icon star’s action entertainer has extremely little time and way too much to cover. This has left the distributors worried as the release date is just a couple of days away.

Allu Arjun and Sukumar have been working day and night for the last couple of months to ensure that the film gets completed on time. Such has been Sukumar’s devotion towards the film that he along with Devi Sri Prasad couldn’t even attend the pre-release function of the film.

Despite this mind-numbing hard work, the final copy of the movie is not ready yet. This has worried the distributors big time and put the premiers and early shows under a big cloud of worry.

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa has been sold for huge amounts long back and the buzz for the movie is pretty strong. The advance bookings across the territories look positive. Now, the only question that remains is whether the makers can deliver the final content on time for the premiers.

The movie is bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers and is being shot in two parts. Pushpa: The Rise will hit the screens worldwide on 17th December. Fahadh Faasil, Sunil, Anasuya, Dhananjay are playing negative roles while Rashmika will be paired opposite Allu Arjun for the first time.

Dulquer Salman’s Kurup is now streaming on Netflix. The movie was set to be premiered on OTT on 17th of December. But due to some situations, Netflix brought it before audience today itself. The movie performed pretty great at Kerala Box office but didn’t fare well in Andhra. However, it was a decent hit in Tamil Nadu.

Kurup is the highest grosser in Dulquer Salman’s career. This movie is based on the real life story of a fugitive based out of Kerala. A guy named Chaco killed a guy and made his corpse see as his own so that he can claim the insurance money.

This left the entire state in shock back then. While all his accomplices were caught by police, he escaped. Its been 40 years and Kurup is yet to be caught by police. His story is slowly turning into an urban myth. Dulquer Salman did a great performance as Kurup.

Although some section of audience criticized romanticizing a murderer for the sake of movie, it didn’t affect its run at the box office. Shobhitha Dhulipala acted as the female lead in this movie.

You can watch the movie in Telugu here.
