Kantara franchise and sequels for Salaar in plans, confirms producer

Hombale Films has had a terrific run in the last 4 years. First, it was KGF that shattered several records not just in Karnataka but also created a box-office storm on a pan-India level. This was followed by KGF 2 earlier this year which brought in never-before collections and emerged as an industry hit in several markets. If this was not enough, Hombale Films relatively smaller film Kantara repeated the KGF success and garnered massive acclaim and box-office collections all over.

And now all eyes are on Prabhas starter Salaar which will be directed by Prashanth Neel. Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films has already started thinking of the long-term plans and has said that a Salaar sequel and Kantara franchise might also be a possibility in the coming days.

“At present, we are open to that idea. We are also open to making sequels for Salaar. We will take the call after we watch the finished film. The same is with KGF 3 and taking Kantara ahead. After Prashanth is done with Salaar, we will discuss it, said Vijay Kiraganadur.

Giving a Salaar shooting update, he said, ” 85 per cent of shooting is complete and by January, we will complete the remaining shoot. We need six months for the VFX work and on September 28 will release it in cinemas,”.

Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka 1st day worldwide box office collections

Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka was released amidst positive buzz and good word of mouth. The movie brings the Mass Maharaja and Trinadha Rao Nakkina together for the first time. Apart from Ravi Teja’s energetic performance and some massy moments in the film, Bheems Ceciroleo’s foot-tapping music has also acted to the movie’s advantage.

Coming to the opening day numbers, Dhamaka had a good opening in all territories, In Nizam, the movie collected 1.9Cr share on opening day. Coming to Uttarandhra the film collected 54L while Guntur collected 40L. Krishna accounted for 25L while the Godavari districts landed 50L. In addition, Ceeded and Nellore collected approximately 1Cr on opening day. 

Overall, the film has collected 4.6Cr share from Telugu states, and collections from the Rest of the world have added a further 35L. The overall share of the film on opening day is close to 5Cr. All eyes are now on the next couple of days and if the film manages to maintain or better these numbers, then it would provide massive relief to the Dhamaka team.
