2022 Recap of Tollywood is an attempt to analyze our Telugu industry’s Top Heroes films and their box office performances. Let’s see how our Star Heroes have performed this year.
Prabhas : This year has been a bad one for Prabhas as he came with Radheshyam. The film failed miserably at the box office and even openings were disastrous which was a massive setback for him as with Saaho despite bad talk he got unbelievable numbers and looking at those collections, everybody thought Prabhas was in some other range and cannot be compared with other Heroes.
Trade circles thought that Prabhas is in his own league, but the film Radheshyam pulled everybody back and Prabhas needs to come back strongly with his next film to prove his stamina at the box office.
Pawan Kalyan: Pawan Kalyan at again proved he is king of openings this year, Bheemla Nayak had a massive opening in 1st week at the box office, but the film got affected due to ticket pricing in Andhra Pradesh and also after 1st week the film failed to continue the same momentum which was disappointing. Overall, the film ended up as an above-average grosser. Overall, we can say it was a decent year for Pawan Kalyan.
NTR: NTR has mesmerized everyone with his performance in RRR, but somehow Rajamouli failed to maintain the balance between both Heroes in the movie as indeed the NTR fans felt the same and disappointed with the fact that Rajamouli didn’t give equal importance to their favorite hero. Not only the audience, indeed the fans didn’t have the satisfaction after NTR putting 5 years for RRR film. NTR has given his 100% and picked up the appreciations all over the world for his work as Bheem.
Ram Charan : With RRR Ramcharan has gained huge appreciation and accolades all over. He delivered his career finest performance. With RRR he scored 100 marks, but immediately with Acharya he failed as a star and further as a performer. The film became one of the biggest disasters in Tollywood and again performance wise Ramcharan has not given the finest in the film. Ram Charan was least effected with this film’s result, and overall 2022 was a good year for him.
Mahesh Babu : Mahesh babu yet again proved his stardom by pulling an average film to a hit film despite RRR and KGF2 storm. It’s difficult to pull the public immediately into theaters as most the audience watched RRR and KGF2 which affected Acharaya in a Massive way and everyone thought that Sarkaru Vaari Paata will also get affected with the same, but Mahesh pulled the film and made it hit film. It was a good year for Mahesh Babu.
Chiranjeevi: 2022 Is a disastrous year for Megastar Chiranjeevi. Acharya is the biggest disaster ever in Tollywood and failed to get the openings and Godfather received positive talk but still, it failed to get the openings and ended up as a disaster which resulted in Chiranjeevi’s stardom being in question mark. Before Achrya he competed with Present Top 6 Heroes, but now he is out of this race, he needs to come back strongly to prove his stardom again.
Allu Arjun: No film of Allu Arjun has released in this year but brand Pushpa got popular in this year as the film ran until January month and delivered some unbelievable numbers, especially in Hindi, Allu Arjun brand also became bigger but the Pushpa team made a mistake of releasing the film in Russia which resulted as a disappointment for them.
2022 didn’t particularly belong to any one hero. If Ram Charan not had been a part of Acharya definitely this year would have belonged to Ram Charan for the global recognition he has received, while Chiranjeevi was least In the rankings with two disasters in this year.
