Ileana Rejects Crazy Project

Telugu remake rights of a Bollywood movie Andhadhun were bagged by Tagore Madhu. Nithiin will be seen as the main lead in this movie directed by Merlapaka Gandhi under the Shresta Movies banner. This project was launched in February. Now, some changes are being made in the script according to the Telugu nativity.

In the process of finalizing the other cast, the movie team approached Illeana D’Cruz for a crucial role in this project. Originally that role was played by Tabu but Illeana rejected this offer as she doesn’t want to act in an aged role which is older than her actual age and it’s not the heroine role. However, the latest reports say that she signed as a female lead for Nagarjuna-Praveen Sattar movie. Initially, the moviemakers wanted Tabu to act in Telugu version too but somehow it didn’t happen and now Shilpa Shetty replaced her, and Nabha Natesh was roped as a female lead. Nithiin is currently working for Rang De directed by Venky Atluri. It’s shooting is on hold due to lockdown. The remake of Andhadhun may go on the floor once Nithiin completes Rang De.

In the Telugu Film Industry, there are many hit pairs whose combination is widely accepted by the audience. Chiranjeevi-Suhasini combo also falls under this category. They acted together in several films and most of them were successful at the box-office. Present Chiru is working on Acharya which is being directed by Koratala Shiva. After this project, he will be seen in the remake of a Malayalam movie Lucifer. Sahoo fame Sujeeth will be directing this political drama which will be produced by Ram Charan under their home banner Konidela Production Company. The interesting thing is that actress Suhasini is to be a part of this project. Ironically, Suhasini will be seen as a sister of Chiranjeevi in the Telugu version of Lucifer which is a powerful and important role. After watching them as hero-heroine in many movies let’s see how the audiences receive them as brother-sister.

This script is tilted as Devil and might feature Ranbeer Kapoor as the main lead. But as of now, this project is still in the discussion stage only. Apart from this, Sandeep Reddy is working on a script in a crime-drama genre and he makes sure that the script is a PAN India material. A few days back there some rumors saying that Sandeep Reddy Vanga to direct Prabhas under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers but there was no official announcement about that project till now. The latest news says that the movie team approached a Tamil music director Justice Prabhakaran and he is all set to take over. He made his Tollywood debut with Vijay Devarakonda’s Dear Comrade though the film failed the album has received good appreciation. The title Radhe Shyam is being considered for #Prabhas20 and Pooja Hedge will be seen as a female lead. UV Creations is bankrolling this high budget flick which is being directed by Jil fame Radha Krishna.

KGF Chapter 2 undoubtedly is one of the most anticipated films from the South Industry. This is coming as a sequel to ‘KGF’ which has raised the level of Kannada cinema across the country. It was directed by Prashant Neel featuring the Kannada rock star Yash as a lead actor. It was the highest-grossing Kannada film at the box office and was successful in other Indian languages too.

KGF is one of the most talked movies in Bollywood as well. Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon are also going to be a part of this upcoming KGF2. It is reported that Sanjay Dutt will be seen in the role of ‘Adhira’. The film unit has already completed the shooting of Adira’s scenes. The editing work was also completed during the lockdown. Sandalwood’s inside talk is that Adhira’s characterization is going to be unique and Sanjay Dutt performed extremely well. Netflix Bagged First Tollywood Film Rights For Direct Release

As there is no clarity yet about re-opening of theaters producers are making them comfortable by going though OTT Release. A couple of films irrespective of their budget went on for direct OTT Release and many more films will be adding to the list. As of now, only 3 small scale films from Tollywood were released on the OTT platform and 2 more are scheduled.

Now yet another small budget film but from a Top production house has opted for Direct OTT Release. Ravikanth who earlier directed Kshanam has is now coming up with a relational drama based film titled Krishna And His Lela which stars Sidhu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor, and Shalini Vadnikatti. This film is jointly produced by Suresh Productions, ViaCom18 which is being presented by Rana Daggubati. This film’s digital rights were bagged up by leading OTT Platform Netflix. The official announcement reading the Release will be out next week.

Natural Star Nani who was seen in Gang Leader which released last September has scored a decent hit with that film. Recently, he completed the shoot for V and waiting for its theatrical release which is directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti. He also signed another project titled Tuck Jagadish which is being directed by Shiva Nirvana after a successful film like Ninnu Kori.

A few months back Nani has announced his 27th film under the direction of Rahul Sankrityan who made his debut with The End and later directed Vijay Devarakonda’s Taxi Wala. This project is titled Shyam Singha Roy and its story is based on Kolkata backdrop. The script demands 3 heroines and the movie team already shortlisted 6 heroines namely Nidhi Agarwal, Nivetha Thomas, Raashi Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Ritu Varma, and Sai Pallavi. Among them 3 names to be finalized by the team. The director has already contacted Sai Pallavi and even she is ready to be part of this project. Pre-production works are being carried out rapidly and it will go on sets post-lockdown. This film will be produced by Naga Vamsi under the Sithara Entertainments banner.

Yet Another Bad News For Film Makers

India has been suffering from Corona Crisis for the last three months. Despite implementing several lockdowns and restrictions the spread of the COVID-19 virus couldn’t be controlled. Many states got affected severely by the virus and Tamil Nadu is the third most affected state in India after Maharashtra and Delhi.

In Tamil Nadu, new cases are being registered daily, and now the total number of cases is close to 60k. Keeping this in view, CM Palniswami announced the extension of lockdown till June 30th. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government is the first government to permit permissions for post-production works. Later when the Indian government has announced Unlock 1.0 then TN Government has permitted TV serial and film shootings to resume. But now due to the rapid spread of the virus, the government ordered to suspend all the shootings till this month-end as of now. The same may be followed in many states further. Even Telugu State governments have given permissions for shootings but except 2-3 small budget films rest of the film, shoots haven’t started.
