Will OTT giant Hotstar revival plan work ?

Disney+ Hotstar is now free! In a major development, Disney+ Hotstar has announced that both Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be made available as free-to-view to all mobile phone users. This is a revival plan from the OTT giant to recover from the subscribers’ loss it faced due to the rise of Jio Cinema.

After a record-breaking viewership for IPL 2023, Disney+ Hotstar has decided to lift the paywall for its mobile users specifically for these two matches. With this, well over 540 million mobile users across India will now have access to watch the Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup for free, according to the company.

According to the official announcement, the decision to make Disney+ Hotstar free aims to democratize the game of cricket. With that, the company also plans to make both cricket and Disney+ Hotstar, the streaming platform, more accessible to the largest number of mobile users in India.

“Disney+ Hotstar has remained at the forefront of the rapidly evolving OTT industry in India, and the various innovations we have introduced to continue enhancing the viewer experience has allowed us to delight our audiences across the region. Making the Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup available to a wider audience, we believe, will help us grow the overall ecosystem,” said Sajith Sivanandan, Head, Disney+ Hotstar.

Over the years, Disney+ Hotstar has emerged as a space, which is often known for huge viewership momentum for cricket game. Until date, the platform has received massive viewership for several games like Asia Cup 2022, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, and even the recently concluded India vs. Sri Lanka tournament. Let’s hope that this revival plan of Disney+ Hotstar works and the platform gets the viewership back on the track.

Three Big Bollywood films are releasing on the same date

The Bollywood audience are going to witness a big clash between Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor and Sunny Deol at the Box Office as films of these stars are releasing on the same day. OMG 2, Animal and Gadar 2 are set for release on the same day – August 11 – The Independence Weekend. Animal and Gadar 2 had already announced the release for 11th august, Now Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 has announced for the same date. So now total three films have announced the same release date.

Akshay Kumar was presented a unique avatar on the poster of his next film – ‘OMG 2’, while announcing the release date of the film on Friday morning. The actor took to social media to drop the new poster in which he is seen dressed like Lord Shiva, the Hindu God, with a Damru in one hand.Akshay appears ferocious in the mighty poster. The film is now set for release on August 11 this year.

This announcement led to an interesting to face off at the Box Office as two other big movies ‘Animal’ and ‘Gadar 2’ which are also hitting the screens on August 11. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer and Sunny Deol’s epic sequel to ‘Gadar’ are also cashing in on the long-weekend holiday due to Independence Day on August 15 – Tuesday. With today’s announcement, it is clear that it will be Akshay against Ranbir against Sunny at the ticket windows in August of this year.

Meanwhile, ‘OMG 2’ is the sequel to the first film ‘OMG – Oh My God’ which hit the screens in 2012. The film had featured Paresh Rawal in an important role. This time, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam join Akshay in the film which discusses on issues like the education system and God. The film is Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi.

It will be Akshay’s first movie after the box office failures like ‘Selfie’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’. The actor was loved in the role of Lord Krishna in the first part of Oh My God, and the audiences are waiting to see him in a similar role now in OMG 2.

Story: Gunashekhar, also known as “Guns”, is a reckless young man who dreams of getting rich. He faces troubles in achieving his dreams and his path weaves into Lucky, a rich girl who believes that money is the source of all trouble. How the couple get along and what problems did they face on the journey? Who is Kidnapper Raas and why is he after them? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: The film begins with an intriguing scene and leads to a flashback which explains why the main character has taken that decision. The same impact continues when different characters are introduced into the story. The curiosity arises as the characters make the audience interested to see what will happen next. However, all this intrigue lasts only for a while as the proceedings get uninteresting. What seems to be an action thriller turns into a lousy love story.

The required follow-up for the characters and tracks which are introduced goes missing. Also, the love track appears very superficial without any feel. The Villain character, which is introduced seriously, turns into a comical one and his scenes with Yogi Babu are very annoying. The Climax is dragged to a routine ending after a ridiculous scene between the lead pair, which itself looks like the ending of the film.

Performances: Siddharth getup looks odd and his performance too does not add up as he looks out of the place for the most of the time. The charm and natural flow are missing in his acting, as he did not suit the character he played. Divyansha Kaushik got a rich and modern girl character which requires a lot of glamour show, and she makes the full use of it through giving the audience a visual treat. Abhimanyu Singh and Yogi Babu’s track irritates very much. Munish Kanth and others were ok.

Verdict: The film Takkar has a passable first half with an interesting start, but the second half turns into an almost nightmare with a soul less love track and a stupid villain track. Overall, the film is a severe disappointment for the audience who expected a quality film from Siddharth.

TV anchor-turned-actress Anasuya Bharadwaj, who is known for her performances in movies such as Rangasthalam and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise, made sensational revelations about Vijay Deverakonda’s publicist. She has alleged that he has paid trolls to abuse her. Over the past few months, fans of Vijay and Anasuya have embarked on a war of words on social media.

Anasuya and Vijay used to be friends, in the actress’s words. In one interview, she informed that she learned from someone in the Vijay’s team that his closest person had paid trolls to abuse her. She said she was shocked when she found out about it.

“Vijay and I were friendly long back and there was no problem. When Arjun Reddy (2017) released, the cuss words were muted in the film. Vijay had visited a theater and when the muted cuss words came on screen, he told his fans to mouth the dialogues and they were shouting these cuss words. Vijay played an abusive character, which is fine, but in real life, why would you encourage the audience to say such words? Being a mother, all this abusive language really upset me. In fact, I had spoken to Vijay about this, saying, please don’t encourage such things in real life,” Anasuya told in an interview.

She added that on-line abuse against women had increased after Arjun Reddy’s release. She also said that she was depressed as a result of on-line abuse, but she succeeded in moving on. “In 2019, Vijay Deverakonda’s father was producing Meeku Maathrame Cheptha and they offered me a role. Things were fine. It was after that, someone from Vijay’s team told me that his publicist had paid trolls to abuse me. I was shocked. If the publicist had paid trolls, then Vijay would have been aware, right? I am sure they would not do something like this without his knowledge, right? ? ” She added.

However, Anasuya, in the end, said that she wants to end it here as she wants mental piece in her life. Anasuya played an important role in Vimanam, a small film which was released today.

Veerabhadram Chaudhary recently talked about Bhai film and its after effects on him. In a YouTube interview, he said that Nagarjuna’s movie destroyed his career. He said that his career stopped with the movie “Bhai”. His other movies like “Ahana Pellanta” and “Poolarangadu” were blockbusters He said that “Bhai” became a big break in his comfortable life, and his situation has changed like if he suddenly got pushed in the middle of a flight.

He said that initially wanted to make Bhai as a comedy entertainer. The film was meant to be a hilarious ride, but the story was changed due to various developments when Nagarjuna became the hero. At First, the story of “Bhai” that I told was fun and jovial, it starts as a comedy and turns serious at the end. The audience expected comedy, but the seriousness did not reach them, Veerabhadram said.

Veerabhadram also stated that the film “Bhai” was made within the planned budget, the story was also liked by everyone, including Nagarjuna and it was shot in Annapurna Studio, even though outside producers came to make it, Nagarjuna produced the film, but somewhere it became a misfire. After that, he made a film called “Chuttalabbai” with Aadi Sai Kumar which was also a failure at the box office. Now, after a gap of seven years, he is making a movie called “Dilwala”.

Allu Arjun launching his own multiplex AAA Cinemas

Icon Star Allu Arjun is entering the world of theater business. Apparently, he’s one of the partners for the multiplex which is being built at the main Ameerpet junction. Allu Arjun bought the Satyam theater in Ameerpet and built his own multiplex AAA Cinemas in the place. Now the latest reports strongly suggest that the theater’s launch is fast approaching and sources say that Allu Arjun will be starting his new multiplex with another star hero’s movie, i.e, Prabhas’s Adipurush.

AAA Cinemas grand launch ceremony will be held on 15th June by Allu Arjun and the multiplex will be open to the public from the next day, i.e. 16th June with Prabhas’s mythological drama Adipurush.

It is also said that a statue of Allu Arjun will be placed at the entrance of the multiplex. Also, the reports recommend that they will play a 100 plus LED screens at different corners of the multiplex premise on the launch day, which is now just a few days away. The multiplex is named as AAA (Asian Allu Arjun) Cinemas aka Asian Satyam.

Tamil hero Jiiva is in consideration to play Y.S Jagan’s role

Tamil actor Jiiva who shot to fame in Telugu with Rangam back in 2011 is looking to make another big impact in Tollywood. The actor is one of the leading names in consideration to play AP Chief Minister Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy’s role in the upcoming biographical drama Yatra 2.

This film will be a sequel of Yatra directed by Mahi Raghav who will also direct the sequel. Incidentally, the first installment of Yatra starring Malayalam star Mammootty was released just before the 2019 elections and now Yatra 2 is also being planned to hit the screens before the elections in AP next year.

Mahi Raghav revealed his plans for the movie and said that this film will not include any portions after Y.S. Jagan became the CM of Andhra Pradesh. It will follow the story from 2009-2019.

“It revolves around YS Jagan Anna and his struggles between 2009 – 2019. I won’t touch his ruling period and what has happened after 2019,” clarified director Mahi Raghav.

Explaining his reason behind going for a non-Telugu actor for a Telugu political leader biopic, the director said, “No Telugu hero will dare to do this role and Currently Jiiva is in consideration.”

Story: Veeraiah (Samuthirakhani) is a disabled man who is also a single father and his son Raju’s (‘Master’ Dhruvan) happiness is what matters to him the most. Veeraiah runs an inherited Sulabh complex as his lifeblood. Raju develops a fascination towards flights since childhood and is always so mad about flying on a plane. Did Raju fulfill his dream of flying on an airplane? What problems did the Father and Son face in the process? What are the roles of prostitute Sumati (Anasuya), cobbler Koti (Rahul Ramakrishna) and auto driver Daniel (Dhanraj) in Veeraiah’s life? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: Vimanam has a good storyline with a strong emotional arc between a father and son. However, Director Siva Prasad Yanala has struggled to make the film with a well-rounded narrative. He takes his own time to establish and explore the connection between the father and the son and the people of the locality. The main track of Veeraiah and his son Raju was dealt with nicely except for the ending. The track involving Anasuya and Rahul Ramakrishna could have been far better. Both the characters had a good development, but the scenes between them were very ordinary except for the final scene. The scenes in the school show the innocence of the children and make us laugh. 

The interval twist gives us a hint about the proceedings in the second half and climax. However, the journey from the midpoint to the end was not effective as the problems which Veeraiah faces get repetitive with overdramatic touch. Instead of evoking sympathy, the scenes give a feel of restlessness. But most of the conversations between father and son came good. However, the ending did not justify the character arc of Veeraiah. Charan Arjun’s music and production values were good.

Performances: Samuthirakhani and Master Dhruvan were too good and gave natural performances. Anasuya Bharadwaj, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Dhanraj were fine. Meera Jasmine was wasted in an unproductive cameo, while Motta Rajendran and others were ok.

Verdict: The Vimanam (Plane) takes some time to take off. The journey looks well on track until it is on the runway/interval. After the interval, the journey was filled with ups and downs and has an ending which acts like an anti climax. Overall, some genuine heart touching scenes, and the performances of Samuthirakhani and Master Dhruvan work well for the film, but the boring narration in the second half and stagy taking work against the intention of the director.

Adipurush is all set to break this year’s best opening film Pathaan

Prabhas’ Adipurush is gearing up for its worldwide release in a few days and the expectations on this project have reached an all-time high. In fact, the film is projected to beat several opening day records among which stands a record created by Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan.

Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan is the biggest opener of this year and collected around 105Cr gross worldwide on its Day. Adipurush is set to cross this record comfortably and become the biggest opening of this year. The film is creating a good buzz in all languages if the talk of the initial show is positive, the film has a chance to collect Rs 100Cr gross in India alone.

Adipurush will be 2 hours 59 minutes in duration with some grand VFX and stunning visuals being featured towards the end of the second half. The film is slated to release on June 16th Worldwide.

Directed by Om Raut and produced on a massive scale by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles. Prabhas will be seen as Lord Ram in the film, while Kriti Sanon appears as Janaki. Sunny Singh plays the role of Lakshman and Deva Dutta Nage plays Lord Hanuman and Saif Ali Khan will be seen as Raavan

It is very well known to everyone that Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Narasimha Naidu movie is set for a re-release on this Saturday as Balakrishna’s birthday gift for the fans. Everyone expected that the fans of Balakrishna will celebrate this event grandly, but the advance bookings for this movie are disastrous, which is very shocking.

The recent trend of old blockbusters re-releases has become like a battlefield among the fans of Telugu Star Heroes. So with every new re released film, the competition for creating records has tightened. In that situation, Narasimha Naidu getting disastrous advance bookings has come as a shocker for Nandamuri fans. It looks like not only the neutral audience who are not interested to watching re-releases but also the fans seem to have lost the interest to re-watch and celebrating the re-releases.

Produced by MV Murali Krishna under the banner of Venkataramana Productions and directed by B Gopal, the film was released on January 11, 2001, on the occasion of Sankranthi, and it was a massive success back then. The film had created industry records at the box office. Simran and Preethi Jingyani were the heroines of the film. Mani Sharma’s songs are raved by the moviegoers even in today’s time.

It is said that the collections from the re-release of ‘Narasimha Naidu’ will be used by the fans for social service activities.
