All India Cine Workers Association demanding a ban on Adipurush in theatres and OTT

The All India Cine Workers Association, an independent registered organization of film technicians and workers, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the ongoing controversy over Adipurush and demanded a ban on the film in theaters and OTT as well. The body said the movie insulted the mythological Hindu epic Ramayana and demanded its prohibition. They also called for an FIR to be registered against director Om Raut and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir for violating religious sentiments.

News agency ANI reported on Tuesday afternoon that All India Cine Workers Association had written to PM Modi, requesting him to “stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of #Adipurush screening in the theaters and OTT platforms in the future.”

In its letter, shared on the organization’s official letterhead, the association’s president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta wrote, “All Indian Cine Workers Association demands ban on screening the movie Adipurush. This movie’s screenplay and dialogues are clearly defaming the image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. Adipurush Movie is hurting religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma.”

Adipurush, which released on Friday, is based on Ramayana, and has been surrounded by controversy over its dialogues and scenes. Many have criticized the normal language used by some characters, especially Hanuman, by claiming that it degrades their respect. The film was also criticized for taking liberties with its plot and deviating from the epic, which is regarded as holy by many Hindus. Adipurush stars Prabhas as Lord Ram/Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Sita/Janaki, Sunny Singh as Lakshman/Sesh, Deva Dutta Nage as Bajrang/Hanuman and Saif Ali Khan as Ravan/Lankesh.

Actor Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh’s latest film Malli Pelli, which made enough noise during its theatrical release, is all set to be released on OTT. According to the latest reports, the movie will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video from June 23, 2023. The movie got good publicity upon its theatrical release, but it turned out to be a failure at the box office.

Now the audience who did not make it to watch the movie in theaters can enjoy it on the giant streaming platform, Amazon Prime Video. The Telugu audiences have now got used to watch the movies in theaters and OTT as per their priority.

Malli Pelli, starring Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh, is directed by renowned producer-director MS Raju. The movie was released in theaters last month and received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. The movie is heavily inspired from the real life incidents of Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh.

The film also stars Jayasudha, Sarath Babu, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Ananya Nagella, Roshan, Ravi Varma, Annapoorna, Bhadram, Yukta, Praveen Yandamuri, and Madhoo. The movie is produced by Actor Naresh on Vijaya Krishna Movies banner, with music composed by Suresh Bobbili and Arul Dev.

The shoot has been delayed several times and now the news of SS Thaman exiting the project has also come out. A lot of changes are happening in this film Thaman is said to be almost out of this film. Pooja Hegde is also said to be out of this film because of the dates issue and the team also looking for a fresh combo. Till now Pooja Hegde has not joined the sets of this movie so there is no budget damage to this change.

However, Prabhas’s stardom is getting huge pre-release business and massive openings at the box office, but after that, his films are crashing after the first weekend, which is a worrying factor.

There is no doubt that Prabhas has achieved pan Indian stardom, and he can carry such big budget films, but off late the quality and content in his recent films is affecting his box office stamina.

After Baahubali 2, if we observe, all the three films of Prabhas have crashed after having an outstanding weekend at the box office. Saaho and Radhe Shyam films were expected to get drop on Monday because both the movies opened with unanimous bad talk and negative reviews. However, Adipurush getting a massive drop on its 1St Monday is unexpected as the movie has decent reviews, mixed word of mouth with additional advantages like Ramayan and 3D.

This proves that with big stardom, the expectations of the audiences also will be huge and they would not be satisfied with quality less and mediocre content. Adipurush may have better talk than the previous movies, but the film definitely failed to reach the expectations of fans and audiences.

Now Prabhas should take care and deliver strong content with his upcoming films Salaar, Raja Deluxe, and Project K. Otherwise even those films will also get the same result of massive openings and crashing after the 1St weekend.

After an extraordinary Sunday, Prabhas’s Adipurush witnessed a massive drop on 1St Monday in all territories. From Telugu states the movie has collected around 4.8 Crores share on day 4, which is a disastrous number and the total 4 days Telugu states share is 69.8 Crores. The Telugu state’s theatricals are valued at 150 Crores and Adipurush is heading towards a big disaster.

The same situation is with the Hindi version, as there also the film witnessed a massive drop and collected around 8 Crores net on Monday, which had shocked the trade circles. Adipurush’s total 4 days worldwide share of Telugu version is 90.7 Crores, while all Languages combined share will be 156 Crores. The worldwide gross of Adipurush for 4 days will be around 293 Crores.

Directed by Om Raut, ‘Adipurush’ stars Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan, Sunny Singh as Lakshman and Deva Dutta Nage as Lord Hanuman. Ajay – Atul, and Sachet Parampara are the music directors for this movie.

Adipurush is produced on a massive scale by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles. People Media Factory is bringing the movie to the Telugu audience. Theatrical rights of the Telugu version are valued at 190 CRS and overall, the combined break even mark for all versions of the film is 320 CRS. The film needs to have a good run at least until the next weekend to be in the safe zone, but looking at the current trend, the target looks far away for Adipurush.

The day has started on a joyous note as Ram Charan and Upasana have been blessed with a baby girl at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad. The hospital released a note confirming the same and both mother and child are healthy and doing well.

The medical bulletin reads, “Ms Upasana Kamineni Konidela and Mr Ram Charan had a baby girl on 20th June 2023, at Apollo Hospital Jubilee Hills – Hyderabad. The baby and mother are doing well.

In December last year, the couple had announced about the pregnancy bringing great joy to fans and well-wishers. “With the blessings of Shri Hanuman Ji, we are delighted to share that Upasana & Ram Charan are expecting their first child. With love & gratitude Surekha & Chiranjeevi Konideli, Shobana & Anil Kamineni,” the couple announced.

On Monday, Prime Video shared Varun and Janhvi’s first look from Bawaal, and wrote in the caption, “Badlega sabke dilon ka haal kyunki duniya bhar mein hone wala hai Bawaal. The poster of the first look showed the lead pair, Varun and Jhanvi, lost in each others eyes. Jhanvi wore an ethnic look featuring traditional dress with Indian earrings, while Varun wore a blue shirt and grey jacket.
