Siva Karthikeyan’s Mahaveerudu content delayed in Telugu states

Siva Karthikeyan’s Maaveeran/Mahaveerudu movie was scheduled to be released on worldwide screens today. This has come as disappointing news for Sivakarthikeyan’s fans. The morning shows of Maaveeran (Mahaveerudu in Telugu), have been cancelled across the Telugu States.

Reportedly, a last-minute delay in delivering the content has resulted in this unexpected delay. All the shows of Telugu version which were scheduled before 12 PM have been cancelled.

Not only the Telugu version, Mahaveerudu shows but the Tamil version, Maaveeran’s shows have also been cancelled in Tamil Nadu and the USA due to the content delay. All the parties involved with the film worked and resolved the issue and ensured the movie is screened as soon as possible.

Maaveeran/Mahaveerudu has director Shankar’s daughter Aditi Shankar as the female lead, while renowned Tamil filmmaker Mysskin appears in the negative role. Mandela fame Madonna Ashwin has directed the movie, while Shanti Talkies have produced it.

Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar’s reunion with Ustaad Bhagat Singh created massive euphoria among fans. Movie lovers expected the film to recreate the magic of 2011 superhit, Gabbar Singh.

The recently released glimpse also generated huge interest among fans and everyone was eagerly waiting for the return of the energetic cop that Pawan Kalyan so effortlessly portrayed in Gabbar Singh. However, it now appears that the plan might not go through and the film is on its way to being shelved.

The major reason for shelving is that the film needs a big number of dates and with Pawan Kalyan’s current schedule, there is no possibility to allocate the dates for the film. As of now, Ustaad Gabbar Singh has completed only one schedule and Pawan Kalyan could not allocate his dates after this.

His ongoing political commitments and shooting of other projects have not helped Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s shooting progress either. Due to his absolutely packed schedule there is a possibility to shelve this project completely. At the moment, Pawan Kalyan has Bro: The Avatar and OG which are progressing pretty much as expected. The fate of Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Hari Hara Veera Mallu now hangs in balance.

Anand Deverakonda, Vyshnavi Chaitanya, and Viraj Ashwin starrer Baby released today amidst positive buzz and solid expectations. The movie’s music and intriguing trailer have managed to keep the audience’s interest levels high and the premieres were held across all major centers.

Directed by Sai Rajesh, the film’s entire unit has been extremely confident of the movie’s success. It looks like their confidence has worked well for the film as it has opened with very good WOM from the audience.

The first half of Baby was a decent one with very good Pre interval and interval scenes. Coming to the second half, the director dealt with the love story and emotions rather well and this might work well for youth in particular. The lead character’s performances, music, and screenplay are the other elements that worked well for the film.

Story: Anand (Anand Deverakonda) and Vaishnavi (Vaishnavi Chaitanya) are schoolmates. While Vaishnavi loves Anand silently, gradually he realizes sincerity in her love, and he too falls for her, After that, Anand fails to pass the 10th class while Vaishnavi moves on to further studies. Things take a turn when Vaishnavi joins an engineering college. How does college life affect the bond between the love pair? Who is Viraj (Viraj Ashwin) and what change does he bring to the love story of Anand and Vaishnavi? Answers to all these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: Director Sai Rajesh was very much successful in getting the required craze for his film, Baby, with aggressive promotions and a super hit album was also one of the reasons for the audiences being interested in this movie. Now coming to the film, the narrative starts on an emotional note and then moves back to the past of the lead pair. The introduction of both the characters and them falling in love was shown beautifully. After that, the pace moves a bit slow when the college scenes start and when it looks like the film is getting dragged, the interval episode brings the right momentum. An emotional sequence followed by a bit of a shocking interval bang raises the expectations towards the second half.

The director was aware of this generation ‘s mindset and designed the characters/dialogues according to them. Though some dialogues come good in this process, a few looked like they went a bit too far. In the Second half, the situations between the lead pair get more problematic. The change in the character of Viraj sustains the interest level as well. However, the problematic situation which the heroine goes through looks too convenient. Which is why when she is trapped in a situation in which she can never come back, the audience cannot feel for her. The last 30 minutes of the film are handled in a pretentious mode rather than going for the clear route. The climax is also designed in a hard – hitting way, but a more stress on all the lead characters’ writing could have made it more effective.

Performances: Anand Deverakonda was natural and was able to bring out the innocence in his character. Vaishnavi Chaitanya was too good and performed very well in emotional scenes. Viraj Ashwin has a nice character, he used it to the fullest. Nagababu has limited screen space, but he had some worth mentioning dialogues.

Verdict:

Overall, Baby the movie is not a regular coming of age romance. Some needless dialogues and false emotions act against the director’s intention, but the performances, scenes between the lead pair and soulful music work well for the film.

Story: An MLA and his son, who are from an oppressed community, are forced to stand up against the privileged, pretentious son of a late politician, who is determined to make them bow down to him. Will they be able to stand in front of him in fighting for their rights is what forms the crux of the film.

Analysis: Director Mari Selvaraj is always known to make films based on social discrimination and fight for the basic rights of one individual. Which is why he is highly regarded as a filmmaker, though he has directed only three films. With Nayakudu Mari takes the village Politics as a center stage to his film. He tries to discuss the importance of power in politics and shows in whose hands that power has is what makes the difference. The storyline and setting though appear a bit too regular for the standards of the director, he was able to get his trademark moments in the film.

The film starts off a bit slow but gets into its rhythm as it progresses. The flashback between father and son has a deeply emotional impact, with a gruesome incident which shatters the bond between them. The love track between the lead pair looks to have some intensity, but the conflict gets resolved within the 10 minutes of the heroine’s introduction. When the main question is about the possible outburst of the hero’s character, the director shows his brilliance with a gripping and whistle worthy interval sequence.

The post Interval moments are also designed equally powerful and raise the anticipation towards the further events, but the proceedings after that look a bit underwhelming. The political campaign and the problems the lead role and his supporters face gave a familiar feel. However, towards the Climax Mari Selvaraj once again impresses with effective dialogues and intense presentation of the last moments.

Unlike his previous films Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, Nayakudu (Maamannan) does not look like a fresh plot, but Mari showed what he wanted to in a few stunning sequences like the interval and discussions between father and son regarding the system and fight to correct it. It is only in the second half where the elections and drama for votes look a bit standard. Also, the unique metaphors and imagery that involve dogs and pigs did not have the right impact.

Performances: Vadivelu gave a terrific performance in the main role. It would be not an exaggeration to say he is the soul of the film. Fahadh Faasil’s character appears a bit routine, but he brings the effect with his natural act. Udhayanidhi Stalin was fine. Keerthy Suresh had limited scope and she was fine.

Verdict:

Overall, though the second half gives a feeling of being in between, Nayakudu is a film which certainly has its heart in the right place and addresses many important issues like social inequality and the use of power in politics, with many compelling moments, including the climax and a well-treated first half.

Maya Bazaar For Sale, a new Web Series which is made as a comedy drama, is streaming on OTT from tonight. The series is directed by Gautami Challagulla and produced by Rana Daggubati, with Navdeep, Naresh, Eesha Rebba, Meiyang Chang, and Ravi Varma in the lead roles. The series will premiere on July 14th,I.e, today midnight on Zee5, the popular Indian OTT platform.

The series revolved around a posh community in Hyderabad. When the government declares their constructions as illegal, it causes disruption to the peaceful lives of city residents, causing a reversal. How the families deal with the problems and find a solution is what forms the rest of the story.

The Web series stars Navdeep and Eesha Rebba in the lead roles, while Naresh Vijay Krishna, Meiyang Chang, Jhansi, Ravi Varma, Hari Teja, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Gautam Raju, Aditi Myakal, and others play other important roles in the series. The trailer for the above series was unveiled recently on July 4th, and it will have seven episodes streaming in its first season.

Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s Project K has created a tremendous buzz on the pan-India level so far. And very soon, the film will create waves on an international level as the film is all set to be a part of San Diego Comic-Con. The cast of the movie, including Prabhas and Deepika Padukone will attend the event, making it the first Indian film to ever be a part of this international convention. It is also being said that on the same stage the new release date of the film will be announced along with its first look.

A few hours back, the makers of Project K took to their Twitter account to make an appeal to the fans and audience. They told all the fans to get ready as they will unveil the answer to this mystery that has captured the curiosity of millions across the world about what is Project K.

An exclusive footage from the film will be premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con. The makers have been quite tight-lipped about the movie, and not much inside info has been revealed so far. This event, which is scheduled from 20th to 23rd July, will see the entire cast of the film along with some of the biggest movie stars from the world over.

Samantha wraps her shooting part for Citadel

Actress Samantha is all excited and much happy as she wraps her shooting part of the upcoming Indian web series, Citadel. On Thursday, Samantha took to Instagram and shared a happy selfie from her car. She wrote that “A break doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all when you know what’s coming”. She also thanked the creators, Raj and DK for writing a lifetime character for and funnily stated that will be only until they write another strong character for her.

Created by Raj and DK, the action oriented series also stars Varun Dhawan. The series is an Indian adaptation of the Russo Brothers series of the same name. Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden are the main stars of the international version. The release date of the Indian version of Citadel has yet to come.

Varun Dhawan and Samantha’s Citadel will be premiered on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Recently, Varun and Samantha met the President Droupadi Murmu in Serbia.

On ‘Citadel’, Samantha earlier said, “When Prime Video and Raj and DK approached me with this project, I decided to take it up in a heartbeat! After working with this team on The Family Man, it is homecoming for me. The Citadel universe, the interconnected storylines between the productions across the globe, and most importantly, the script of the Indian installment really excited me. Anand Devarakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya’s Baby movie has created excellent buzz with its excellent audio and aggressive promotions. The movie is a live testament to what splendid music can do when it comes to film promotions. While the film features a relatively fresh cast, the music has done wonders to create solid buzz.

All the songs- ‘O Rendu Prema Meghalu’, ‘Devaraja’, ‘Premisthunna’ and ‘Ribapappa’ have received great responses and have emerged as chart busters. In addition to this, the fresh star cast, interesting teaser and recently released quirky posters have captured the attention of the audience. Because of this, the film has been able to do a tremendous pre-release business and let’s take a look at the movie’s box office calculations and how much the film needs to collect to achieve the breakeven point.

The film does a superb business in all the areas of Telugu States and in a few areas the makers are releasing the film on their own. Andhra [6 Territories] region’s business for baby has been done around 3.5 Crores while Nizam is set at 3 Crores, and Ceded area has been sold at 1 Crore.
