Bedurulanka 2012 secured excellent theatrical rights: Deals have been closed for all territories

“Bedurulanka 2012” is the upcoming comedy drama which has gathered super positive reports from the inside circles that it is one of the best entertainers in recent times. The film stars RX 100 fame Kartikeya Gummakonda, Neha Shetty of ‘DJ Tillu’ fame and versatile actor Ajay Ghosh in prominent roles.

Producer Ravindra Benerjee Muppaneni of Loukya Entertainments is planning to release the movie on August 25, 2023. 4 weeks ahead of its release, this promising entertainer with loads of comedy has closed excellent theatrical release rights. The movie’s theatrical revenue is estimated to be around Rs 5 Cr, which is definitely encouraging.

The film is going to have its Overseas release by The Village Groupe, while the Ceded area’s rights are owned by Sri Dhanush Films. Shankar Pictures have bought the rights for Nizam and Andhra areas.

Already, the promotions of the film are going on at a brisk pace. The film’s teaser and songs have created a strong buzz. Also in August, a robust trailer will be released. The lead actors and other artists are eagerly waiting to further intensify the promotions. Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej’s latest film, Bro The Avatar is in the news for a new controversy now. A scene from the movie has led to a political war because the dialogues in that particular scene seemed to take an indirect dig at one of the Andhra Pradesh Government’s ministers, Ambati Rambabu.

There are some indirect references to political leaders of AP. In a pub scene of the film, “30 Years” Prithvi who played the character ‘Shyambabu’ dances exactly as Ambati Rambabu did. Pawan takes a class to Shyambabu on his dance steps. Then Shyambabu exhibits interest in ‘Sex’. Pawan gives a strong counter immediately, “Eppudu Niku Ade Picha?” Both these are said to be aimed at Ambati.

There are also some other notable dialogues and scenes in Pawan Kalyan’s Bro mentioning corruption of politicians and Janasena party’s symbol, glass. Bro film having a political dimension can be seen as a calculated move by the makers and Pawan, as the next general elections in AP are approaching and Pawan will be more engaged in politics. Meanwhile, Ambati Rambabu has responded to this controversy.

“I heard that my character was insulted in the movie, Bro. I didn’t see the movie. But Pawan Kalyan is trying all this because he cannot face me politically. He is enjoying my character by acting in a film made with some other’s money” said Minister Ambati Rambabu.

He further said, “I don’t take money and dance. I danced during Sankranthi out of joy. They are saying my dance is not in sync, Am I a dance master?, Pawan will not be in sync with politics”

Recording a film in theaters is punishable offense

Piracy has been one of the persistent issue for the film industry. So many measures were taken to curb this problem, but none could solve it. It is a well-known fact that many online portals record the new films in the theater itself and release the unauthorized prints online of those films. But all those online portals or individuals who have been doing this will have to face a 3-year jail or a fine of 5% of the production of the cost of that particular film. So from now on, recording a film in a theater is a punishable offense.

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday cleared the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The Bill, which was tabled in Rajya Sabha last week by Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur seeks to amend the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The Bill intends to ensure that film industry content does not suffer from piracy, as the menace causes a significant loss to the industry.

The Bill was passed after a discussion that lasted over two hours in the Upper House of the Parliament on Thursday, but without the Opposition, as they staged a walkout after their demands for a discussion on Manipur was not entertained.

The Bill’s objective is to combat film piracy, overhaul age-based certification provided by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and ensure consistency in categorizing films and material across platforms.

In the Bill, the government has proposed a maximum three-year jail term and a fine of up to 5% of the production cost of a film for individuals making pirated copies of movies. The Bill intends to add more certificate categories (UA 7+, UA 13+, and UA 16+) and the UA category, as reported by PTI.

New sections in the Cinematograph Act are being introduced to prevent the unauthorised recording of films (section 6AA) and their exhibition (section 6AB). Provision 6AA prohibits recording any part of the film for the sole purpose of using the same device mentioned in the report.

“Piracy is like cancer and this government has decided to eradicate it. The Bill took almost four decades, but a lot has been changed. India is a country of storytellers, should emerge as the content hub of the world. I thank all the members for supporting the Bill and giving many suggestions,” Thakur said.

Let’s hope that the new amendment from the cinematography act will work towards the betterment of films, and recording a film in a theater stops from now on.
