Story: Aditya Raj (Nazar) is a Central Minister who faces a death threat as he prepares to present a report that could end a global crime at the UN. Arjun (Varun Tej) is chosen as his security to save him from the threats. Who is trying to kill the Minister? What is the reason for his actions? Did Arjun save Aditya Raj or not? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis:

The storyline of the film has been already known for one if they saw the trailer of Gandeevadhari Arjuna. There is a life threat to the Central Minister and the hero, his bodyguard aka Security, has to stop it. Director Praveen Sattaru tried to mix the commercial elements like Love track, Sentiment, and Action together, but he was completely mistimed in this process.

The narrative feels formulaic and secondhand right from the start. It follows all the requirements needed for the genre, which is acceptable, but they have zero impact. The interval block is the only time that anything exciting occurs, and it is not because the episode had some intensity, but it is mostly due to the unexciting parts before it.

In the second half, although the action blocks gain more space, they still fall short of the mark. The lack of fun or thrill makes it hard to connect with the proceedings. As the hero/narrative moves from one location to another, the audience never experience any anxiety regarding the situation. The subpar action and bland drama never let the audiences involved with the hero or the film’s aim.

The climax also has no impact. Instead of providing a thrilling ride, it appears as a predictable outing with a lengthy affair finally coming to an end. The narrative totally lacked the required engrossing feel.

Performances: Varun Tej was fine and looked and good in the action sequences. Apart from that, there is nothing much to elaborate on his character, Sakshi Vaidya was okay. Nazar suited to his role while Vinay Rai got a good introduction as the antagonist, but after that, he did not have much to do. Vimala Raman,Narain, Roshini Prakash, Manish Chaudhari, Abhinav Gomatham were ok.

Verdict:

Overall, Gandeevadhari Arjuna fails to hold the interest at anytime. The drama was not engaging and nor the action sequences were effective. The vague taking struggled to mix stylish action, commercial elements, and a social issue.

Bro: The Avatar and three latest films streaming on OTT now

This week movie lovers have something interesting to look forward to on the OTT platforms. Pawan Kalyan’s Bro: The Avatar and recent blockbuster Baby have made their way to the digital platforms Netflix and Aha respectively.

Baby, starring Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Anand Deverakonda released in theatres  July 14th, received mostly positive reviews. Along with good talk, the movie also received some criticism for certain dialogues. Baby, however, went on to have tremendous success at the box office and has been eagerly awaited for OTT release. The movie is now being streamed on Aha.

Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej’s Bro: The Avatar was released on July 28th and didn’t set the box office on fire. The film saw a quick decline in box office collections. Apart from Pawan Kalyan’s energetic performance, the audience didn’t find anything entertaining in this film and it ended up as a below-average fare at the box office. Bro: The Avatar is now streaming on Netflix.

Apart from these two much-anticipated projects, there are two small films making their way to OTT platforms. Seetha Balakrishna has released on Hungama Play and Max Player while Parthudu has released on ETV Win.

Boys Hostel Premiers audience talk – Review and ratings

The Kannada film ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’ is the latest blockbuster from the Kannada film industry, getting a wide range of appreciation from the audiences with its unique blend of comedy and emotions. The creativity of the debutante director Nithin Krishnamurthy and the ensemble new cast contributed to the success of the movie, and it became a sensation in the Kannada cinema. Now, the film is getting released in Telugu as ‘Boys Hostel’ on this Saturday, August 26th. The film’s Telugu premiers got good talk from the audiences.

With the confidence in their content, the team has screened premiers last night for the film in limited shows in Hyderabad, and it worked for them as the film opens with positive talk and reports. The film is said to have filled with non-stop entertainment from start to end and, overall, it is an enjoyable film for youth audiences.

Chai Bisket Films and Annapurna Studios have collaborated on Boys Hostel, which means the film will reach a wider audience in Telugu. Adding further intrigue to the project is the presence of cameos by well-known names of Kannada Cinema like Rishab Shetty, Pawan Kumar, Shine Shetty and Reshmi.

Presented by Rakshit Shetty under Paramvah Photos and with musical compositions by Ajaneesh Loknath, “Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare” was a joint venture between Gulmohur Films and Varrun Studios.

Due to the makers’ plans to release the movie in Telugu as Boys Hostel, the Kannada version film that was in theaters until recently has been removed in Hyderabad.

King of Kotha failed to set opening records at box office

Dulquer Salmaan’s ambitious pan-India project King of Kotha was released yesterday amidst great fanfare and celebrations. The trade expected that the film would have a record start at the box office but looks like word of mouth has impacted the film. The estimate for the opening day is Rs 6.5Cr gross for Kerala. While it is the highest opener for Dulquer Salmaan it has not managed to surpass KGF 2 which still holds the record opening day in Kerala with 7.3Cr gross.

The pan-India project was released in all South Indian languages and Hindi. The gangster drama is directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy and produced by Zee Studios and Dulquer Salmaan’s home production Wayfarer Films. King Of Kotha is a gangster drama with a perfect blend of emotions, romance, and comedy.

Apart from Dulquer, the film also stars Dancing Rose (Sarapatta Parambarai fame), Prasanna, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod, Gokul Suresh, Shammi Thilakn, Shanthi Krishna, Vada Chennai Saran, and Anikha Surendran. Set in the 1990s, in a fictional town named Kotha, the film is a tale of revenge and redemption

Gandeevadhari Arjuna Premiers audience talk – Report and reviews

Varun Tej’s latest film, Gandeevadhari Arjuna, Directed by Praveen Sattaru, has been released in theaters today. The movie is said to be made on the biggest budget in the career of Varun Tej but unfortunately the film opens to a disappointing response from the audiences. The film’s Overseas shows have been completed, and the talk/report from those shows is not at all encouraging.

The film opens with below par reports, and it is said that the film is made with a complete flat narration right from start to end. Nothing worked for the film except for the good cinematography. The story feels outdated with no logic. Normally, for this kind of films, overseas audiences are the main target but from them only the movie has opened with below par talk and bad reports, which is definitely a bad sign for the film’s box office performance.

Even before the release, the audiences looked not much interested in watching the film, which resulted in low buzz. Now a Superb word of mouth which was needed for the film has not come, and it looks like Gandeevadhari Arjuna may end up as a failure. Let’s hope that the response and talk from the Indian shows will come better for the film.

The film is directed by Praveen Sattaru and features Sakshi Vaidya as the female lead and Vinay Rai as the antagonist. The ensemble cast is made up of Nazar, Roshini Prakash, Manish Chaudhari, Abhinav Gomatam, Ravi Varma, Kalpalatha, and Baby Vedain. The movie, which is produced by Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra, has its music composed by Mickey J Meyer.

A big disappointment for RRR stars again

The main trip of the action epic RRR, Rajamouli Ramarao (NTR) and Ram Charan are in for a disappointment again. Despite the film getting big success at the box office and even going on until the Oscars level, the stars of the film failed to get the required recognition for their work.

If we go back to the release time of RRR, the film was dominated by KGF 2’s magnanimous success at the box office and there were some disputes between the fans of NTR and Ram Charan about the credits in the film but after the OTT release the film had got more recognition.

After that, the team did an Oscar campaign, and they expected to get the awards for leading stars, Director, and the best film award, but only the music director Keeravani had got the Oscar Award. Now at the latest National awards also the lead Heroes NTR, and Ram Charan did not get any award.

Even the director, Rajamouli, also did not receive award. NTR and Ram Charan worked so hard for RRR and spent years of time on it but with Pushpa Allu Arjun got more recognition and craze than them.

PVR INOX shares are witnessing a big jump in the Stock market

With the recent movies getting succeeded at pan India level from past 2–3 months and with the theaters being filled with the audiences, the shares of PVR Inox are raising continuously. For the past 3 months, the share price was raised by more than 25%. Films like Gadar 2, Jailer, OMG 2 and the recently released films are performing exceptionally well, and it will continue as big releases are coming in the following months like Jawan, Salaar etc.

The price of the PVR Inox shares recorded a satisfactory recovery, as the stock jumped by more than 26% over the past three months. The PVR Inox equity rally is part of the hope to strengthen revenues on the back of solid box office collections of recent films.

Despite being mostly flat in 2023 so far, PVR Inox shares have started to gain momentum since the beginning of Q2FY24. PVR shares have risen over 15% in the last one month.

The July-September quarter started well, with movies like Mission Impossible – 7 and Oppenheimer doing well at the box office. Subsequently, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailor shook the box office with collections over 400 crore and 500 crores, respectively.

Director confirms uncut version of OMG 2 will be released on OTT

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Oh My God 2’ was a highly anticipated film of the year that was released on August 11. Akshay Kumar appeared in an extended guest role in the film, while Pankaj Tripathi was featured in the film. The film received rave reviews from the audiences, and it also became a super hit at the box office. Now in an interesting turn of events, the film, OMG 2’s director confirmed that the uncut version will be released on OTT.

The portrayal of Lord Shiva by Akshay Kumar was one of the major issues surrounding ‘OMG 2’ before release. The film deals with the concept of sex education. ‘OMG 2’ had received an ‘A – Adults Only’ certificate from the censor board with 27 cuts. It’s fascinating to note that this is Akshay Kumar’s first film to receive an adult-only certificate in 12 years.

In a recent interview with a news channel, director Amit Rai expressed his disappointment with the A certificate. He mentioned that the film’s uncut version will be released on OTT.

In an interview with a news channel, Amit said, “We were heartbroken because we made the film for everyone to watch, now that cannot happen. We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children below 12 years of age can watch a film under parental guidance) but they didn’t. We tried to convince them until the very end… But then they walked some distance, we walked some distance. The film has been released with modifications…”

When asked whether the OTT release of OMG 2 will be released without any cuts, Amit added, “We are happy people have loved the film. The intent of the film was pure. Nobody wanted to titillate the audience; hence they liked it. We have dealt with it (the story) in a way that doesn’t sound vulgar. We talk about the reality, but in a sweet and humorous way.”

Praveen asked the journalist who did tell him about the details of budget, and he even stated that he can call his previous movies’ producers and can clarify the matter there itself. The 69th National awards for films released in 2021 have been announced this evening. The National Film Awards indeed turned into the Telugu Cinema Awards, with a record haul for Tollywood this time around. Icon Star Allu Arjun getting the honor of Best Actor (Male) for Pushpa. For the record, no Telugu actor has ever won this award in the 69 years of history of National Awards. While the Telugu films like Pushpa and RRR got many awards on the National stage, the Tamil film industry fans are angry at the National film awards jury for ignoring their movies.

From Tamil cinema, Arya’s “Sarpatta Parambarai’, Suriya and Manikandan’s ‘Jai Bheem’, Dhanush’s ‘Karnan’, and Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanadu’ starring Simbu which were massive hits and were nominated for the National Awards.

However, none of these films were able to get a National Award, which has left the fans of Tamil cinema dissatisfied.
