Police complaint against AR Rahman for a bounced cheque case

0

The Association of Surgeons of India petitioned the City Police Commissioner on Wednesday to get Music Director AR Rahman’s advance payment of Rs 29.5 lakhs for a conference returned.

The association had made the payment to have him perform at the association’s annual national conference in Chennai in December 2018.  They paid an advance of Rs 29.5 lakh.

However, the association was unable to secure a suitable location and approval from the Tamil Nadu government. As a result, they told Rahman’s team of their situation and requested a refund. The association received a post-dated cheque in the amount of the return.

To their surprise the cheque bounced, and the association filed a police report after following up with the Oscar winner’s team for two years without receiving a response. This is the second time the ace music director has come under scanner this month.

His recent concert at Chennai was laced with mismanagement and patrons complained of poor crowd control and multiple instances of molestation and stampede-like conditions. Following the incident, a police official with the rank of Deputy Commissioner was also transferred.

Malayalam action film RDX: Robert Dony Xavier is now streaming on Netflix. The film was released last month and received positive reviews and went on to achieve massive box-office success. The film garnered raving accolades from both audiences and reviewers and was well-appreciated for its gripping action sequences.

RDX was released on August 25th and released in competition with Dulquer Salmaan’s King Of Kotha. Quite surprisingly, RDX emerged victorious over King of Kotha and has been a major hit on its OTT debut as well.

RDX earlier premiered on Netflix only in Malayalam but is now available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. The action thriller follows the lives of three youngsters who constantly get into fights and how their past eventually comes back to haunt them. Anbariv, the action choreographer behind recent blockbusters like KGF, designed the stunt sequences.

RDX is directed by debutante Nahas Hidayath, stars Neeraj Madhav, Shane Nigam, and Anthony Varghese as the main leads.  It is produced by Sophia Paul, also stars Lal, Mahima Nambiar,  Aima Rosmy Sebastian, Mala Parvathi, Baiju, Nishanth Sagar, and Babu Antony. The music of the movie is composed by Sam CS.

Boyapati Sreenu – Ram Pothineni’s Skanda FDFS audience report, talk, review, and ratings

0

Boyapati Sreenu and Ram Pothineni s Skanda has been released today and the movie opens with average – good reports from its early shows. The audiences always liked the typical Boya style action films, that is the reason his films always open with this kind of reviews. The Mass audiences are liking the film and for the class audience it is a mixed report.

Skanda is a film that is made in the typical Boyapati style. The film is action-packed with powerful punch dialogues. Hero Ram shines with his mass presence and energy, carrying the film on his shoulders. However, the story is quite regular, and Thaman’s songs and background score could have been better. Only two songs came good in the film, that too because of Ram and Sree Leela’s energy. Overall, Skanda’s FDFS talk and report is that the film is a good film for the masses and watchable for other audiences.

The movie’s music was composed by S Thaman. Srinivasaa Chitturi produced Skanda under the banner of Srinivasaa Silver Screen, making it the most expensive movie for Ram. The movie features Sree Leela as the female lead, and Saiee Manjrekar will play a crucial role. The movie presented by ZEE Studios South and Pavan Kumar features Santosh Detake as the cinematographer. Editing is handled by Tammiraju.

Skanda has had a Pan India release on September 28th, I.e. today in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

Unanimous negative response for Thaman’s music for Skanda

0

Boyapati Srinu’s Skanda starring Ram Pothineni and Sreeleela released today. The reviews and word of mouth for the film aside, one segment that has received unanimous negativity is the music. SS Thaman has composed music for this film and is collaborating with Boyapati Srinu for the successive film after Akhanda.

This is probably the first time the BGM work for a Boyapati film is getting negative responses. Even a box office failure like Vinaya Vidheya Rama featured decent BGM. And Thaman and Boyapati combo always delivers solid BGM as we have seen in the case of Akhanda and Sarrainodu where the compositions were a major plus.

But, for Skanda, the scene is totally different. Thaman is getting a unanimous bad response and everyone feels the music is very loud and unnecessary for many scenes. Even theatre management have also complained regarding the same.

Animal Teaser – The aggression and intensity lacked impact

0

The upcoming movie ‘Animal’ is a highly anticipated one as it is the first collaboration between Bollywood Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film’s teaser has finally been revealed after a lot of anticipation today on the occasion of Ranbir’s birthday. While the fans of Ranbir are loving it, the teaser appears to be a little disappointment as the aggression and intensity lacked impact.

Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of a rich gangster’s son who decides to enter the world of crime, separating himself from his father’s influence as per the teaser.

Rashmika Mandanna and Ranbir Kapoor discuss starting a family as the teaser begins. It gives a glimpse into the aggressive nature of Ranbir’s father, played by Anil Kapoor. Ranbir still defends his father and affectionately refers to him as the ‘best father.’ The teaser then unfolds into a series of high-octane action sequences, violent confrontations, and car chases, and introduces Bobby Deol as Ranbir’s nemessis.

Overall, the teaser has the style of Sandeep Reddy Vanga and his mask aggression, intensity, but the teaser does not reveal what the hero wants and what is the film’s soul that made the scenes impact less. Also, the background score was disappointing, which should have been more effective for a gangster backdrop film.

Skanda Movie Review – Aimed at the Mass audience

0

Movie: Skanda
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Ram Pothineni, Sree Leela, Saiee Manjrekar, Srikanth
Director: Boyapati Sreenu
Produced By: Srinivasa Chitturi
Release Date: 28th September 2023

Story: The Telangana Chief Minister’s Son takes away the daughter of Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister from her marriage as they are both in love. This Incident sparks a fuel between the two CM’s. Meanwhile, a young man (Ram Pothineni) comes into the city and befriends Telangana CM’s daughter (Sree Leela). But he has a plan behind this. What is his plan? Does it have any connection with Rudrakanti Ramakrishna Raju (Srikanth) who is about to be hanged in Jail? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Performances: Ram Pothineni looked good in a massy role, and he has donned two getups. While he was able to carry the heavy action episodes and uttered some punch dialogues, a little more weightage in the character would have provided him the scope to perform. Sree Leela was just limited to a few Scenes and songs, while Saiee Manjrekar too had a limited scope. Srikanth was apt while Daggubati Raja, Sharath Lohithaswa, Ajay Purkar, Prince and others were ok.

Positives:

  • Ram – Sree Leela’s Energy and dances
  • Action Sequences
  • Family Drama in the Second Half

Negatives:

  • Flat Narration
  • Routine Twists
  • Zero Emotional Impact
  • Bad Music

Verdict:

Skanda is a routine action entertainer that provides nothing new, but it can be a watchable fare for mass movie lovers. Ram Pothineni’s screen presence, high-octane action sequences and a bit of drama work for the film, while overboard sentiment, predictable taking and bad music work against it.
