Pooja Hegde’s Next: A Bollywood Romance

As explained before, Pooja Hegde has been having a disastrous phase in her career, with half a dozen box-office bombs back-to-back. Unsurprisingly, she’s facing a dearth of acting offers across all the languages of the country. However, it looks like Hindi cinema is at her rescue.

As officially announced, she will be next seen opposite Ahan Shetty in a romantic drama titled ‘Sanki’; notable filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala will bankroll this venture, while debutants Adnan A. Shaikh and Yasir Shah will jointly direct this project. This film is expected to hit screens on Valentine’s Day 2025. This will be the second outing for Ahan, who made his acting debut with Tadap (2021), a remake of Ajay Bhupathi’s RX 100 (2018).

In addition to this, she is also signed in to romance Shahid Kapoor in a cop drama film titled ‘Deva’; this will be directed by Rosshan Andrrews of Malayalam cinema. Pooja Hegde was last seen in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), which was panned by both critics and audiences.

‘Supreme Hero’ Sai Dharam Tej has altered his name yet again! The actor, who was last seen in Bro (2023), changed his legal name to ‘Sai Tej’ following the motorbike accident in September 2021.

In March 2024, the Virupaksha star surprised his fans with an announcement stating that he has decided to go for a name change once again to ‘Sai Durga Tej’; he added that the addition of the middle name ‘Durga’ was to pay homage to his beloved mother Vijaya Durga, who is none other than the younger sister of ‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi. Additionally, the actor has announced his own production company with the name ‘Vijaya Durga Productions’, which implies that very soon he will be investing in feature films.

It must be seen how these decisions turn out in terms of success and fame. On the work front, he has signed for a film with debutant director Jayanth Panuganti. His collaboration with Sampath Nandi, titled ‘Ganja Shankar’, has been shelved due to budget issues.

Manjummel Boys, the recent sensation of Malayalam cinema, is continuing its dream run at the ticket window. The survival thriller film has already shattered multiple records and is all set to break through the INR 150 crore mark.

That’s not all, folks! This Mollywood film has emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time at the North American box office; minting over $ 990K, it has surpassed the previous top grosser 2018 (2023) and is headed towards becoming the first film to enter the million-dollar club.

Premalu Achieves Solid Box Office Success, Joins the 50 Cr Gross Club in Kerala. Among Malayalam films, it’s the 5th to achieve this milestone, following Pulimurugan, Lucifer, RDX, and a 2018 movie. In total, it’s the 9th film to join this elite club, including other language films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2, Leo, and Jailer.

There were three major disappointments for OTT audiences this week. The main disappointment is Hanu-Man OTT streaming is postponed.

Excluding Hanuman, all other Sankranti releases have already been streaming on OTT for a long time. The films that were released after Hanuman are also streaming on OTT. All other films have a 4-week theatrical window or even less, while Hanuman has an 8-week theatrical window. The anticipated movie will stream on Zee 5 from March 8th.
