Ram Charan Director’s Father Passes Away!

‘Global Star’ Ram Charan will be next seen in a political thriller titled ‘Game Changer’. Helmed by legendary filmmaker Shankar Shanmugam, it features Kiara Advani as the female lead. After this, the RRR star will be joining hands with Buchi Babu Sana of Uppena fame.

Referred to as #RC16, it will be a sports drama featuring Jahnvi Kapoor as the female lead. The film’s music is composed by A. R. Rahman. Even before the film went on floors, a pathetic incident took place at the director’s residence: Buchi Babu’s father, Venkat Rao (68), breathed his last yesterday.

Multiple celebrities, including his guru Sukumar, were seen consoling the filmmaker in this tough phase. On the work front, a massive village set is being erected in Hyderabad, where a big chunk of the project will be shot. #RC16 is slated to go on floors once Game Changer is wrapped up.

Kartikeya Gummakonda and Iswarya Menon starrer Kartikeya Gummakonda’s Bhaje Vaayu Vegam directed by Prashanth Reddy has hit the screens today. The action thriller’s trailer looked interesting and managed to create some positivity. Let’s see if Kartikeya manages to strike gold with this one.

Story:

Venkat (Karthikeya) and Raju (Rahul Tyson) move to city in search of a better life. While Venkat wants to become a cricketer, Raju looks to get a job and settle in life. The brothers get duped and end up losing their savings. Enraged at their misery Kartikeya takes some drastic measures. What impact these actions have on his life and how he tackles them is what the movie follows.

Performances:

Kartikeya has done a good job as a young and energetic character. He looks the part and has particularly impressed in the action parts. Iswarya Menon has no major part to play in the film’s proceedings but does a decent job. Rahul Tyson has done a great job as a timid and soft one of the two brothers and it’s great to see him back on the big screen. Ravi Shankar as David looks menacing as ever and adds great value to the movie.

Verdict:

Bhaje Vaayu Vegam is an engaging thriller with its own weaknesses. While Kartikeya and Ravi Shankar add great value to the proceedings, the film loses its edge due to predictability and melodrama. However, if you’re a fan of thrillers, you may want to give Bhaje Vaayu Vegam a shot.

Salaar Producer Backs Keerthy Suresh’s Film

Keerthy Suresh’s last appearance in Telugu happened along with Chiranjeevi in Meher Ramesh’s action drama Bhola Shankar (2023). Needless to say, the film was a colossal disaster. Her next project is Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki: 2898 AD; this time, the Mahanati star has lent her voice to ‘Bujji’.

Besides this, she will also be seen in a full-length lead role in a Tamil film called ‘Raghu Tatha’. It is bankrolled by Vijay Kirgandur, the man behind the global phenomenon of the of the KGF series and Salaar. It is slated for release worldwide on August 15th, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day.

However, it may not have a Telugu release. Raghu Tatha is written and directed by debutant Suman Kumar. A comedy-drama film, it also features M. S. Baaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshini, and Jayakumar. It is produced by Kannada cinema’s Hombale films.

Allari Naresh’s Aa Okkati Adakku Is Now Streaming!

After starring in a couple of serious flicks, Allari Naresh is back in his signature zone with Aa Okkati Adakku (2024). Starring Faria Abdullah of Jathi Ratnalu fame as the female lead, it is a romantic comedy entertainer helmed by debutant Malli Ankam.

Upon release, it received mixed-to-positive reviews from audiences but performed fairly well at the ticket window since no other films were in competition. Having said that, you can give it a shot this weekend if you’re looking for a breezy entertainer to enjoy.

Aa Okkati Adakku is now available for streaming on Prime Video. With music composed by Gopi Sundar, it is bankrolled by Rajiv Chilaka under ‘Chilaka Productions’. It also features Viva Harsha and Vennala Kishore in supporting roles.

Shocking: Anjali Defends Balakrishna’s Act!

As we all know, Nandamuri Balakrishna received huge backlash from netizens for his inappropriate behaviour at the pre-release event of Gangs of Godavari (2024). To reiterate, he was spotted with a water bottle filled with alcohol and was seen shoving actress Anjali on the stage.

While the actress responded playfully to this gesture, social media reacted strongly to it, calling it ‘inappropriate’. What followed was Balayya making headlines on all the web portals, criticising them. As a move to cover it up, Vishwak Sen claimed the alcohol bottle seen in the footage to be CG.

Needless to say, this move by the actor emerged as a massive flop. Most recently, actress Anjali spoke about the event on Twitter. Defending Balayya’s act, she stated that they share mutual respect for each other and that their friendship has come a long way. Perhaps she meant to say that whatever had happened on the stage was unintentional.

Pawan Kalyan’s next release is Hari Hara Veera Mallu

After several Tollywood heroes, Pawan Kalyan will now enter the pan-India league with Hari Hara Veera Mallu. While the film’s announcement some years ago had filled fans with great optimism and excitement, the same buzz has been slowly dying with each passing day. The makers released a teaser recently and this was the first update that saw the light in a long time.

Interestingly, what has once supposed to be shelved is going to be Powerstar’s next project. Sujeeth’s OG which was announced as Pawan Kalyan’s next release for 27th September release is now moved further due to some non theatrical business deals. OG will now hit the screens in 2025.

Pawan is now completely focused on election results. It is reported that Pawan will discuss further call sheets with AM Rathnam after the election results. Hari Hara Veera Mallu will immediately go to sets AM Rathanm is confident that the film will release this December.

Tollywood is facing a dry period with none of the recent movies succeeding at the box office. With elections concluded recently, the film industry is looking to get back on its feet with back-to-back releases. Gangs of Godavari starring Vishwak Sen and Neha Shetty is one such attempt to get the box-office back on track. Does this film have enough to do so? Let’s find out.

Story:

Gangs of Godavari follows the life of Lankala Rathna (Vishwak Sen), a regular yet ambitious youth. Set in the scenic Godavari region in 80s, the film follows the trials and tribulations of Rathnam, his tussle with locals, and how he emerges out of the challenges thrown at him by men in power.

Performances:

Vishwak Sen tries to shoulder the movie and while he succeeds in parts, his Godavari character and slang looks slightly unnatural. The massy dialogues and action scenes are performed well by the young actor but it surely leaves us expecting more. Neha Shetty as Rathnam’s love interest lights up the screen in an otherwise gloomy world of Gangs. However, there is little scope for her performance and she does an adequate job. Anjali’s character arc is well written and she does a good job. The rest of the supporting cast including Nasser, Sai Kumar, Goparaju Ramana among others do exactly what they have been doing for years with nothing new to take home.

Verdict:

Gangs of Godavari is a rural gangster movie set up in a village near Rajahmundry. While director Krishna Chaitanya director sets up the world of Gangs of Godavari well and the film starts on a pacy note, the film fails to gather momentum and fails to engage viewers due to weak writing. The individual characters were not established strongly. Adding to this the Hero – Villain confrontation scenes failed leaving the film not reach its true potential.

Vishwak Sen and Neha Shetty starrer Gangs of Godavari is one of the three major releases of the day. The film has been released after major delays and with the election season almost done, the makers believe this is the time to bring forth the much-awaited action entertainer in front of the audience.

After many days Tollywood is witnessing the release of a notable film. The audience are hungry for entertainment and some big-screen celebrations. Unfortunately, the bookings of Gangs of Godavari are not so positive. The occupancies on Day 1 are expected to be average. However, director Krishna Chaitanya and the team will be hoping to draw the crowds over the weekend with positive word of mouth.

Coming to the film’s talk, Gangs of Godavari has shockingly opened with unanimous negative reviews from overseas premiers. The audience felt nothing worked in the movie’s favour including the story, editing, and screenplay. The first half is watchable but the 2nd half is a complete failure. The pre-interval and interval massy action episodes along with the BGM have come out well but the rest of the movie is a disappointment.

Date Locked For Kalki: 2898 AD Trailer!

Kalki: 2898 AD is a sci-fi epic starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Helmed by Nag Aswhin Reddy of Mahanati (2018) fame, it is slated for a grand release on June 27, 2024. With the date only a month away from today, the makers have been planning aggressive promotions lately.

As a part of it, an animated series titled ‘Bujji & Bhairava’ is slated for release very soon on Prime Video. A teaser of the same has been unveiled today to a positive response from fans. Besides this, the film’s biggest promotional content, the theatrical trailer, is shaping up at a brisk pace.

According to the latest update, the first trailer from Kalki: 2898 AD will be out on June 7, 2024. Additionally, a release trailer is also in the works and will be out a couple of days before this epic action drama hits the big screens.

Indian-2 Audio Launch Details Are Out!

Indian-2 is an upcoming vigilante thriller film directed by the legendary Shankar Shanmugam. A sequel to the 1996 film Indian, it features Kamal Hassan reprising his role as ‘Senapathy’ from the original. It is slated for a grand release worldwide on July 12, 2024.

Regarding its audio launch event, an official announcement has been made by the makers stating that it will take place in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on July 1, 2024. Rumours suggest that ‘Global Star’ Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi, and Rajinikanth will grace this promotional event.

However, the makers have neither confirmed nor denied these rumours. With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, it features an ensemble cast of Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, S. J. Suryah, and Vivek in key supporting roles. It is titled ‘Bharateeyudu-2’ in Telugu.
