Varisu and Thunivu will be soon making their way to OTT platforms once their theatrical run nears an end. The OTT release of Thunivu has been announced and it will stream on Netflix from 8th February and Varisu OTT release is scheduled on 22nd February. However, there’s one big concern that OTT giants are facing and that is piracy.
Both Varisu and Thunivu HD have been released online which makes OTT platforms worried as they bought the rights to both films for a big price. The leaked Varisu and Thunivu HD versions are already trending on social media and if rampant piracy like this goes on, OTT giants might have to reconsider purchasing streaming rights of movies for big prices.
Thunivu vs Varisu was an interesting clash for two reasons. Firstly, it was after 8 years that these Kollywood stars were clashing. Before Thunivu vs Varisu, it was Veeram vs Jilla back in 2014. Secondly, the movies were totally contrasting in genre. While Ajith came up with an action heist film, Vijay came up with a family drama. Now it needs to be seen how the audience responds to the films once they release digitally.
