Vikram’s Dhruva Nathchathiram directed by Gautham Menon has been one of the most awaited yet delayed projects of Kollywood. The film has seen so many delays in the past decade that many film lovers even believed the project to be shelved. This is why the news of the film’s revival with new makers and a release date announcement in November surprised many.
Due to constant financial hurdles, the film was not released earlier even as most of the shoot was completed for years. Now the team is finally settling the amounts and announcing the official release date. A trailer was also released confirming the film’s arrival at the theatres.
Now, in order to settle the amounts taken from the market, the movie needs to bring massive business for the makers. But, considering the wavering interest of people due to the delays and Vikraam’s not-so-strong brand in the trade circles at the moment, getting huge theatrical business is not possible for the makers. Hence, the makers have decided to go for their own release.
The team wants to close non-theatrical rights for a huge price. The Dhruva Nathchathiram team is particularly looking to close the OTT deal for 45Cr – 50Cr. Unfortunately, the movie is getting offers in the range of 35Cr. The team is ready to go for a quick OTT release provided they get 50Cr from OTT platforms. The discussions are ongoing but this needs to be settled as early as possible to have a smooth release.
