The game is happening. The encounter between Ajith’s Thunivu and Vijay’s Varisu has already taken off. While Vijay displayed the trailer of his forthcoming film today, which is among the top trends online, the producers of Ajith’s Thunivu have too entered the excitement by revealing the release date of their film.
While it was thought that both films would collide on the same day, in a sudden twist of things, it is now confirmed that Thunivu will drop a day earlier than Vijay’s Varisu.
According to the official announcement, Thunivu is all set to release in theaters on January 11, which came as a shock to everyone. It is yet to be seen whether Varisu movie would give an advantage to Ajith’s film.
The makers of Varisu still have not disclosed the release date but the there’s solid inside rumor growing that they have prepared to release the film on same date of Thunivu and the official confirmation will be made soon.
However, the change of release date is not so simple, and the producers need to speak with all the affected parties before they announce the release date. Let’s see how this competition develops.
The upcoming box office face-off between Vijay and Ajith will be one of the big points of Tamil cinema in 2023 as both the superstars haven’t had a release in the same season as this in the previous eight years. Their last box office fight took place eight years ago in 2014, when Ajith’s Veeram and Vijay’s Jilla were released on the same day.
Back then, both Veeram and Jilla belonged to an identical genre of family action entertainer, while for this Pongal, Ajith is coming out with a heist thriller, which is giving a lot of vibes of his earlier movies like Mankatha and Aaranbham.
On the other hand, Varisu, a family drama, looks like a perfect film for the festival. With the trailers of both the films out, it is still hard to predict that which movie would win the box office race this Pongal.
