NTR fans hoping for a quick film with Nelson Dilipkumar may have to wait a lot longer. Nelson is said to be teaming up with Rajinikanth once again, this time for the much-awaited multistarrer with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. That means the NTR and Nelson film is likely to go on floors only in 2028.
Jailer 2 Changes Everything
Jailer 2’s massive success has changed Nelson’s plans. The film has broken all-time Kollywood records, with ₹570 Cr+ in its first week alone.
After that kind of success, the hype around a Nelson film with both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan has gone sky-high. Audiences want it to happen right away, and that’s exactly what seems to be happening.
For a while, there was talk about whether Lokesh Kanagaraj or Nelson would direct this film. Now, Nelson is said to be the one taking it up.
NTR and Nelson Must Wait
NTR and Nelson already have a film committed under Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments. NTR fans had been hoping it would happen soon, as a quick commercial entertainer between his bigger projects.
But with Nelson moving to the Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan film first, the NTR project will have to wait.
NTR Isn’t Free Either
The delay may actually work out for both sides. NTR is also busy right now.
He’s currently working on Prashanth Neel’s Dragon, a massive-scale film that may even be made in two parts. After that, he has Trivikram’s God of War, another huge project that needs a long pre-production phase.
So NTR also needs time before he can start the Nelson film.
2028 Looks Likely
With both Nelson and NTR tied up, the timelines are likely to match up later. As per current commitments, the NTR and Nelson film is expected to go on floors only in 2028.
For fans, it’s a long wait. But by then, both the star and the director will be coming off some of the biggest projects of their careers.
