Mohanlal’s Empuraan almost ended its box office run, as this weekend will be the last for the film in theaters, and there will be negligible numbers coming for it after this weekend. Though the film became an all-time biggest grosser for Mollywood, there are no records for Empuraan in Kerala and India.
Empuraan Underperforms in Kerala and India
In Kerala, the film has collected 86 Cr gross worldwide and settled with the No. 2 position only, as it failed to emerge as the industry’s grosser in the homeland. Even at the all-India level, the film failed to emerge as the biggest grosser, as it failed to cross Manjummel Boys in India.
The survival thriller Manjummel Boys did extremely well in Tamil Nadu, and due to this superb performance only, it still holds the position of biggest grosser in India. If we look at the worldwide numbers, L2: Empuraan is the industry hit for Mollywood due to the massive numbers from overseas.

Both share and gross-wise, it emerged as an industry hit for Malayalam cinema. The film’s worldwide gross is around 265 Cr, and its share is around 115 Cr. It is also the first film to collect 250 Cr gross, and 100 Cr share for Mollywood. However, Mohanlal’s Empuraan failed to set benchmarks in Kerala and India.
