No one is following the Producer’s Council OTT rule in Tollywood

What is the use of rules when they are not followed? Tollywood producers protested in August 2022 against the OTT platforms by saying that they are killing the theatrical business. This led to new rules in producers council.

One of the rules says that Producers have to hold their movie releases on OTT for at least 6 weeks. This rule is getting flouted repeatedly, causing a mockery of the unity in Producers council.

Cinema industry is generally unorganized and having a set of rules followed by everyone is difficult. There are many divisions in the industry in every association. The only uniting factor is self-interest.

Producers are only concerned about their profits and nothing else. This is the reason any rule can’t sustain for long if it is not in the interest of Producer’s profit. The recent movies in Telugu industry are getting release way too earlier than the 6-week rule suggests.

Movies like Swathi Muthyam and Ori Devuda released on OTT within 3 weeks. What’s more shocking is Swathi Muthyam was released for Dussera in theaters and for Diwali, it was ready for OTT streaming.

The whole strike against the preemptive OTT release has gone waste after this kind of irresponsible behavior from the Producers, Hope there is an effective implementation of rules by them. Those who break rules have to face consequences, if not no one will follow them.
