Mangalavaram’s box office suffered a major blow due to the World Cup final

The much-awaited recent release Mangalavaaram has had a not-so-spectacular run at the box office over its first three days. With the World Cup final scheduled on Sunday, the film saw extremely little interest from cine-goers resulting in a poor performance on its first Sunday.

1st Sunday has to be the best day for any small or medium-budget film but this time Mangalavaaram was hit very hard by the World Cup final. Managalavaaram collected 2.2Cr share on opening day and on the day it held 80% of day 1 collections but on day 3 the movie saw a significant drop with collections being less than 50% from day 2. This is an extremely unpleasant sign for the makers as the film collected less than 1Cr share in Telugu states.

The total 1st weekend worldwide share is in the range of 5Cr and theatricals are valued at 13Cr. If there was no World Cup final, the movie would have collected around 3Cr shares but now it has collected less than 1Cr share and put buyers in a very risky situation. We need to see how the movie will perform today. If Mangalavaaram fails to hold well today, e then the buyers will face heavy losses.
