The Telugu film industry is currently buzzing with the topic of drug tests, as the comments made by Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy (Telangana) linking film releases with personal drug tests for actors have sparked a major debate across the industry. The way Manchu Vishnu, President of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), responded to these remarks has now become a hot topic on social media.

MLA Anirudh Reddy’s Controversial Demand

MLA Anirudh Reddy made sensational comments, stating that heroes must undergo mandatory drug tests before the release of their films. He demanded that a movie should be allowed to screen in theatres only if the actor’s report comes back negative.

He further expressed the view that actors, who influence the youth and hold a responsible place in society, should maintain complete transparency.

Manchu Vishnu Counters With Sharp Questions

As the MLA’s remarks appeared to directly target the film industry, Manchu Vishnu responded sharply through social media. Questioning why only the film industry was being singled out, he threw a counter-challenge at political leaders as well.

“We are ready to undergo drug tests before the release of our films. But by the same logic, can the MLA also explain what kind of tests public representatives contesting elections should undergo?” he asked.

Vishnu further pointed out that MLAs, who govern the people and hold some of the most responsible positions in society, should also be equally transparent. He advised that it is unfair to target only the glamour industry while ignoring others in positions of power.

Social Media Reactions Pour In

Following his response, many netizens are saying that Manchu Vishnu gave a strong and fitting counter to Anirudh Reddy for his comments about the Telugu film industry. The debate has now intensified online, with people discussing whether the focus should remain only on the film industry or extend to public representatives as well.
