Malayali actress Malavika Mohanan is making her official Telugu debut with Prabhas’ upcoming film “The Raja Saab.” Speaking at the ABP Southern Rising Summit 2025 held in Chennai, Malavika shared insights about her role in the film.
Several of Malavika’s Tamil films, including Superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta, Thalapathy Vijay’s Master, and Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan, were released in Telugu as well. Among these, only Master became a hit in the Telugu market. Yet, Telugu audiences have always shown fondness for her.
“Initially, I thought I would just get two or three scenes in the film. In superstar films, heroines generally get limited scope, maybe a song or two if they’re lucky. But in The Raja Saab, I have a very good role. It’s a strong character for the female lead. This is my Telugu debut, and I’m really excited. The film will release on January 9, during the Sankranti season,” Malavika said.
The Raja Saab features three heroines: Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar. From the teaser and trailer released so far, it is evident that she has some romantic scenes with Prabhas. But it is being said that she also appears in several crucial sequences of the film as well.
Recently, Malavika acted with Mohanlal in the Malayalam film Hridayapoorvam. Calling Mohanlal a “single-take artist,” she said she had to rehearse extensively before performing scenes with him.
