Performances:

Vijay Sethupathi breathes life into the character of Maharaja. His transformation scene, action sequences, and performance are the film’s highlights. Anurag Kashyap, on the other hand, is totally miscast and looks completely off-key. His dubbing is one of the major drawbacks and looks unnatural. Sachana Nemidas provides good support. Mamata Mohandas and BharthiVijay Sathupathiraja have limited appearances in the film but do justice to their part

Positives:

  • Vijay Sethupathi
  • Intriguing narration
  • Basic premise
  • Background score

Negatives:

  • Second half pacing
  • Anurag Kashyap’s dubbing
  • Little scope for other character’s development

Verdict:

Maharaja is a well-crafted revenge story highlighted by Vijay Sethupathi. While there are certain sequences and dialogues that several viewers might find odd and feel uncomfortable, Vijay Sethupathi manages to keep the audience hooked. Overall, the film is an engaging one with slight pacing issues.
