After the massive success of BABY, Anand Deverakonda is back to try his hand at the crime comedy genre with Gam Gam Ganesha. With a completely fresh cast and a debutant director Uday Bommisetty, the film has been released alongside 2 other films ‘Gangs of Godavari and Bhaje Vaayu Vegam. Let’s see if Gam Gam Ganesh has enough to sustain the competition and emerge victorious

Story:

Ganesh (Anand Deverakonda) is a petty thief who decides to make it big in life by pulling off a massive heist. His desire to become rich by stealing is fueled by his girlfriend dumping him for a rich guy. While on his quest for the next big heist, Ganesh gets entangled in a much bigger game that has politicians and a lot of big money involved. What kind of mess he gets himself into and whether he manages to achieve his dreams or not is what the movie follows.

Performances:

Being one of the few known faces in the movie, a lot was riding on Anad Deverakonda’s performance. There’s nothing much to write about his performance and it was just passable. Newcomers Pragati Srivastava and Nayan Sarika don’t have much scope to perform while Emanuel and Vennela Kishore provide the much-needed entertainment. Others like Satyam Rajesh and Raj Arjun (the villain) don’t have much to do and the writing doesn’t help either.

Positives:

  • Scenes involving Anand and Emanuel
  • Some comedy portions

Negatives:

  • Poor writing
  • Predictable screenplay
  • Dragged second half
  • Lead performances

Verdict:

Gam Gam Ganesha is a crime comedy film with neither crime nor comedy angles working in their entirety. There are moments of entertainment in the film which may engage the audience but those moments don’t last long. Weak writing and predictability are the biggest drawback of this film which could have been better had the makers looked to make the screenplay racier with some innovation.
