Kriti Sanon is undoubtedly one of the prettiest women in the entertainment industry today. That is unfortunately of no help in terms of achieving commercial success. To say the least, all her films have been bombing at the box office lately. Let’s have a quick look at how the slender beauty’s career has progressed with time.
Sanon had one of the most envious acting debuts of the 20th century; she was paired with Mahesh Babu, one of the biggest stars of South, in a high-profile project called 1: Nenokkadine (2014). However, the film’s result hasn’t boaster her career, which has barely begun. In the same year, she made her Hindi debut with Heropanti, a remake of Allu Arjun’s Parugu (2008), which wasn’t a failure, to say the least.
She went on to get featured in multiple star-studded projects, such as Dilwale (2015) and Raabta (2017), but neither of them was well received. Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), a romantic comedy starring Ayushman Khurrana and Rajkumar Rao, received critical acclaim and also made some good money, thus providing a breakthrough for her.
Sanon achieved further commercial success with Luka Chuppi (2019), a comedy drama starring Karthik Aaryan. In the same year, she had three other releases: Arjun Patiala, Panipat, and Housefull 4. While all of them were panned by critics, Housefull 4 was a commercial success. Her next release, Mimi (2021), was digitally released to widespread critical acclaim from critics; she was called the ‘Best Actress’ at the 69th National Awards.
Little did she know that this would be her last positive outing for years to come. Right from Bachchhan Pandey to Heropanti 2 to Bhediya, she had to face three major setbacks in the same calendar year. The following year had been much worse for her. While Shehzada, an official remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), emerged as a major flop, the film Adipurush was a collosal disaster at the box office. Her next outing, Ganpath (2023), also bombed at the box office.
Her most recent release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024), has opened to negative reviews from critics. It must be seen how the rom-com will fare commercially. All in all, Kriti Sanon, despite a dream debut opp. Mahesh Babu is having an extremely disastrous phase in her career currently.
