SS Rajamouli’s RRR is no doubt the pride of Indian cinema. It was single-handedly responsible for bringing multiple families back into the theatres after a long time.
The vision of Rajamouli also translated into massive numbers for the makers. But, RRR was made on a huge budget with very big stars. The team also spent crores of rupees on promotions of the film in various cities. RRR is no doubt a success at the box office, but when we take a look at the collections of KGF Chapter 2, RRR falls short.
Within the first week itself, KGF 2 has established its dominance. In Kerala, RRR has collected 20 Cr gross in its entire run whereas KGF 2 will break this record by the weekend itself. Coming to the North markets, RRR is inching towards 250 Cr gross. But when we take a quick glance at KGF 2, the first week’s expected gross alone is 250 Cr gross.
This is the same situation in Tamil Nadu as well. It is obvious that KGF 2 is doing better than RRR in Karnataka. It is likely to break even by 1st week or in 10 days.
This has shocked the entire industry. If you take any parameter, like the cast, budget, promotions, director, RRR is miles ahead of KGF 2. But, the collections of KGF 2 seem to tell another story altogether. This is Rocky Bhai’s world and we are just spectators.
