The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has penned a letter to the online ticketing platform, Book My Show. The Chamber presented few demands which have shocked the platform.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the Chamber urged to take measures to prevent fake or paid reviews. They have requested to opt for:
Revenue Sharing: Share a fair percentage (50-75%) of the revenue generated from Kannada Films with the Producers or authorized distributors (and not with the exhibitors), to be determined through amicable discussions.
Permission Protocol: Implement a system to obtain explicit permission from Producers or authorized distributors before facilitating ticket bookings for Kannada films.
Transparency in Revenue: Disclose the revenue generated from Kannada Films since the inception of the ticket booking fee and provide detailed reports.
Temporary Suspension of Rating System: Suspend the rating system immediately after receiving this letter for Kannada films until corrective measures are in place to ensure its authenticity.
The Chamber also threatened to initiate legal action against Book My Show if it failed to respond or attend the meeting within 15 days.
