Kareena Kapoor Khan’s awaited OTT debut, Jaane Jaan, has been released on Netflix. Based on the best-selling mystery novel, The Devotion of Suspect X, the film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in key roles. From September 21st, which mean from today which also marks Kareena’s birthday, the film is made available for streaming on OTT.
The most famous novel was also the inspiration for the blockbuster Malayalam language franchise Drishyam, and Vijay Antony’s Kolaigaran (Killer in Telugu) as well.
Kahaani, the much acclaimed thriller that Sujoy is best known for, helped propel Vidya Balan to stardom, along with films like The Dirty Picture and No One Killed Jessica. Badla, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, was his last theatrical film in 2019. He has directed a segment in the anthology film Lust Stories 2 and made a Netflix series, Typewriter, since then.
Jaane Jaan, the film’s three main characters are single mother Maya (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and her teenage daughter, her neighbor, the shy, simple, and brilliant mathematician Naren (Jaideep Ahlawat). Enters Karan (Vijay Varma), who is from the Mumbai Police Department, and also is working on the case of the dead man. What caused the victim to go to a small hotel in this hill town? What is his connection to Maya, who owns the same hotel and does not seem to have much of fun in her life? The rest of the narrative focuses on how Karan be able to unravel this mystery.
