Theatres face very tough times and are usually burdened with rising maintenance costs in case of off-season. When people are not flooding the theatres, it gets pretty tough for the exhibitors to handle the costs. This is where innovation from the theater management can come in handy.

In Tamil Nadu, there have been no notable releases for the last 2 months. Theatre owners are struggling to maintain their centers. In these tough times, Kamala Cinema in Chennai has shown a way to run the theatres in tough times. They have started releasing old classics for ticket prices costing just Rs 49 and Rs 69.

Setting prices at the usual Rs 150/- and Rs 200/- range will not work in the off-season. But now with the tickets costing Rs 49/- and Rs 69/-, audiences are thronging to the theatres like never before. The theatre management released Dhanush’s 3 movie and it has had a blockbuster run for a long time. Many other theatre owners have taken inspiration from this and following this same trend. Now many films are rereleasing at lower prices benefitting theatre owners as well as audiences.
