Dulquer Salmaan’s Kaantha received unanimous positive responses from the Chennai press on Wednesday’s premieres, and everyone expected the film to be another milestone in the actor’s career. However, the film had a slow start at the box office on day 1, and it needs a big jump today.
Dulquer’s films like Sitaramam, Mahanati, and Lucky Baskhar started with low buzz at the box office, but they took a massive jump with each passing show, with the help of sensational word of mouth, and achieved massive success. There were expectations that Kaantha would also do the same after the Chennai press show response.
But the regular shows of Kaantha received mixed responses from audiences, and even Telugu critics did not praise it much. With this, the film did not take an expected start at the box office.
The period drama opens with single-digit gross collections worldwide. Telugu States’ opening is less than 2 Cr as per early estimates, which is very, very low. The film is not seeing the jump in bookings.
Today, the film needs to take a miraculous turn for a successful weekend. If it fails to take the jump, then it will emerge as a box office failure.
