Kiran Abbavaram’s KA has managed to create some strong buzz owing to its unique promotional content and trailer. The makers have managed to keep the film’s plot and crux under wraps. The film has created decent expectations and lets find out if it has enough to stand up to what Kiran Abbavaram and the makers have promised.

Story:

Kiran Abbavaram (Abhinay Vasudeva), an orphan finds himself kidnapped and trapped in a dark room. He has no memory of his past when questioned about specific events in his life. However, he starts remembering these incidents only when a hypnotizing machine is activated. Meanwhile, a young woman is also being held captive in the adjacent room. Performances:

Kiran Abbavaram deserves credit for taking on a unique script and delivering a solid performance. He shines in the action sequences and gives his best in the intense moments. KA will definitely stand out as a landmark project for the young actor. Nayan Sarika, who was last seen in the successful Aay, plays a similar role here. However, her part isn’t as impactful since the focus isn’t on the romance, limiting her screen time. She looks fine and does a decent job with what she has

Analysis:

KA is infused with strong thriller elements and manages to keep the audience occupied from the word go. The director duo of Sandeep and Sujith successfully develops a sense of mystery not just about Abhinay’s character but also the world around him.

Instead of taking the conventional route of a thriller, it keeps audiences wondering with unexpected turns, and this is where directors Sujith and Sandeep excel. The strength of the movie lies in connecting the links in the tale and Kiran Abbavaram’s believable portrayal add further value to the movie.

All things considered, KA uniquely uses common village-based drama clichés. The movie is a great attempt considering its budget. It’s high on technical values and will surely keep you hooked. But a last blow in the end might leaves us feeling conflicted. You may either like the end or not. But, you’ll surely be treated to something fresh here. If you’re a fan of thrillers and mysteries, do give it a shot!

Positives:

  • Screenplay
  • Interval Bang
  • Twists in the movie
  • BGM by Sam CS
  • Climax

Negatives:

  • Some unnecessary scenes
  • Underdevelopment of few supporting characters
  • Pacing issues in second half

Verdict:

KA is a unique representation of a traditional rural thriller with a skillful combination of philosophy and suspense. While the film has some pacing issues and writing inconsistencies, it will certainly amuse you and keep you hooked for a major portion. KA is for you if you’re seeking something unique from the usual Tollywood’s brand thrillers.
