It’s been some time since Rajinikanth delivered an out-and-out blockbuster. In fact, his last film Annaatthe failed to draw crowds and emerged as a rare failure for Superstar. Apart Jailer by Nelson Dileepkumar, the Superstar has Lal Salaam by Aishwarya, a film with TJ Gnanvel (Rajinikanth 170) along with talks of a Lokesh Kanagaraj project as well.
But, the Superstar’s upcoming projects like Lal Salaam and Rajinikanth 170 don’t have a huge buzz yet and will entirely depend on the performance of Jailer. Rajinikanth is in a bad phase of his career now with continuous failures. Many believe that Rajini’s stardom has gone down while Kamal Hassan is enjoying his best form on the opposite side.
So the comparisons have started again and now Kamal Hassan films are doing great business. Kamal has pan-India Biggie Indian 2 directed by Shankar and a film with H Vinoth. He also has a project with Mani Ratnam in the pipeline. Rajinikanth needs to prove his stardom and Box office potential with Jailer and it will be a crucial movie for both him as well as director Nelson Dileepkumar.
