Jailer 2 Sparks Rajinikanth x Chiranjeevi Fan Wars

Nelson Dileepkumar’s Jailer 2 is performing well at the box office despite receiving mixed word-of-mouth. The action comedy continues to mint big numbers even on weekdays, with its star-studded cast drawing considerable attention. However, the sequel’s impressive box-office performance has also triggered heated debates among fans of veteran superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi, with comparisons extending beyond the film to their respective star power and market reach.

Despite releasing amid modest expectations, Jailer 2 surpassed the lifetime collections of Peddi in just four days. Capitalising on this feat, Rajinikanth’s fans began taking digs at Ram Charan’s box-office potential, drawing comparisons between the two stars. The debate soon escalated, with some fans bringing Chiranjeevi into the conversation and claiming that the ‘Mega Star’ falls short of Rajinikanth in terms of popularity and market reach, particularly among Hindi-speaking audiences.

While some fans attributed Chiranjeevi’s eight-year hiatus from films to his perceived limitations at the box office, others argued that he never collaborated with S. S. Rajamouli, unlike Rajinikanth, who starred in three films directed by Shankar. These arguments have further fuelled the ongoing rivalry between the stars’ fan bases, turning Jailer 2’s box-office success into another battleground for competing claims about their cinematic legacies and commercial dominance.
